This is a basic nonfiction book that will encourage young readers to learn about Cuba ...
Cuba is a country to the south of the United States. If you check out the map in the back of the book you can see “this country is an island.” If you look at one of the photographs in this book you will see there are palm trees on the “flat plains,” but you will also see a lot of hills in the background. You’ll learn a bit about what kind of weather Cuba has, including the fact that “summers are rainy.” On the island there are birds, but also Cuba has “manatees [who] live in rivers.” Have you ever read about manatees? You can see that they are very unusual looking creatures! On the island there is a lot of farming and “coffee is a major crop.” Some “farmers grow fruit” as well. Even though there are lots of farms, “most Cubans live in cities.” One large one is Havana, which is “in the western part of Cuba.” Check out some of the really interesting looking buildings you see in these pages. Which would be your favorite one? In this book you’ll also get to check out the beaches, some of the foods, the “top sport,” and you’ll get to see some really interesting pictures of Cuba. Do you know what plantains are? If not you will once you read this book! This is a basic nonfiction book that will encourage young readers to learn about Cuba. This large print nonfiction book is prefaced by a table of contents that will set the stage for future nonfiction texts. There are numerous full-color photographs of a wide variety of topics of interest that include everything from it’s people, to buildings, and foods. Each two-page spread discusses some aspect of Cuban life and has an appropriate photograph. There are numerous questions interspersed throughout the text that encourage students to think. For example, one asks “How would life in Havana be different from life on a farm?” In the back of the book is an index, a “Picture Glossary” with captions, and a map of Cuba.Age Range: 4 to 6 yearsGrade Level: Preschool to Grade 1LET’S EXPLORE COUNTRIES: Let’s Explore China Let’s Explore Cuba Let’s Explore India Let’s Explore Japan Let’s Explore Mexico Let’s Explore Russia This book courtesy of the publisher.

Arrival Damage
Upon opening package the cover was underneath the book. Completely torn from the front of the book. I hadn't even had the chance to hold it as a complete book. So disappointed.
