Because of my arthritis, I decided to change my daily dishes from heavier earthenware dishes to very lightweight Corelle dishes which are a very pure white and much whiter than the other dishes I was replacing. Therefore, I had to get new table mats these beautiful black with gold, trim mats, cork, from Pimperel. I have had other Pimpernel mats before and I’ve loved them so I knew I would love these too and I really do. It turns out that I like the look of my table now more than I did before and I’m really shocked! I have added a photo so you can see that the color all works together between the oriental rug below the table, the dishes, and what I have on the turntable Lazy Susan, which is black as well. I love love love these cork table mats! They’re so easy to clean, just wipe them with a damp sponge and then dry them off with a paper towel and they look very elegant.

I love the hard back on these. No worries on the heat. Easy clean up and looks great.

Quality may be lacking but decent

I have a table that is very sensitive to the heat and these are thick, strong, very well produced! Definitely a great way to take care of your furniture!

I should have written this review two years ago. I have a number of sets of Pimpernel placemats that I have bought decades ago for myself and for gifts.I hadn't bought any for a while so I purchased these back in 2022 because I wanted to add to my "inventory". I have some that are decades old and have not shown any signs of wear. These newer ones have not worn well at all. Right from the beginning the surface wore off. They are black so I took a black sharpie to try to repair them but that didn't really help. Over the years I have used my Pimpernel placemats as hot mats as well as place mats so that my beautiful table is protected. I am so disappointed because I really love them.

I have several sets of this brand and love them all. They look great, clean up easy and last.

One already has a white spot on it where the black color has chipped off. I wipe these off carefully but just noticed the white spot. Really? I have not had them that long.
