Great movie
This is the second film in The Hobbit trilogy and it is another great film. The cast are excellent again and the CGI brilliant. Some people have complained about the length of the film but you must remember that The Lord of the Rings trilogy were long too with The Return of the King having a 3 hours plus run time.Yes it isn't identical to the books with new characters added, not to mention a familiar face returning but I think that isn't a bad thing because Peter Jackson has put his own stamp on it.Personally I love the film and suggest you watch it and make your own mind up.

Like the first and third...
...Rubbish! How someone was allowed to make a 9-hour trilogy and slap the title 'The Hobbit' and a 'J.R.R Tolkien' label on it is a disgrace. The whole lot had the Hobbit story buried under dollops of CGI, more padding than both sides at a Gridiron game, more rubbish characters than in an amateur dramatics play in a prison, and more added lines and plots than those contained in the whole collection of Shakespear's plays. Bung in a few Hobbits, Dwarves, Goblins, "Orcs"??? some floating barrels, oh' and a Dragon, get's you to be able to justify the use (abuse) of the said title 'The Hobbit' and the 'J.R.R Tolkien' label.

Dragon and hobbit parts are great. The rest... Eh
Strong beginning to act 3, the dynamic between the dragon and our hobbit hero was fantastic - showing the real chemistry the two actors, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. The final act of the film begins to lose it, however, with increasingly poor CGI. And apparently ancient, evil, intelligent dragons are actually just giant house cats - playing with their prey and easily distracted. As for the first 2 acts, a little faithless to the source material at parts, and a strange portrayal of elves based on what we already know.

Still a great movie
Great the first time I watched it, still great years later! I have recently moved to digital movies and started replacing my old movies etc for digital versions. This came with bonus features as well so good for the behind the scenes etc.Only complaint is that you can't navigate through the content like you could on DVD and Blu Ray. So this is the only downside - movie is great though.

Good times, bad times
So much in here is not in the book and, again, seems a desperate attempt to tie this in as a prequel to LOTR. In the same way as the first film, this is a detriment to the high production values and attention to detail that the film has. It's enjoyable, just a bit of a letdown, overall.

good film which is close to the original story by Tolkein
this book and others in the series are part of the English Literature syllabus for a number of schools; my grandson found the visual representation a good aide to his understanding of the work and has increased his interest in the genre.Films like this are in my opinion both enjoyable and educational, therefor worth the 'spend'.

Great movie
Amazing film, I used it to binge watch the hobbit/Lord of the rings so yeah. You can get the first hobbit movie and all 3 Lord of the rings films on Netflix so only buy the last two hobbit movies here unless you don't have Netflix but then I guess there is a 30 day free trial that you could watch it. But do what you like with your money, it's a fantastic watch and I'm trying to learn Klingon from duolingo ( not related but I thought that u should put that out there bye.

Went on a bit.
Bit tedious. Suddenly stopped while watching it, presumably due to Amazon’s time restriction expiring; I won’t watch a video by this means again (48hr limit to view) and wouldn’t bother watching the 3rd instalment anyway.
