A great story that is inspirational, humorous, and so interesting the way Charlie Barnes tells what went on behind the scene in building a football powerhouse. Coach Bowden being rock solid in knowing who his Creator is takes you on a journey of not only figuring out creative ways to win football games but also how to deal with adversity of all kinds along the way. Even though Bobby Bowden may not have intended some of the experiences to be lessons in life, the reader no doubt takes away many useful applications for his own life. A young man simply could not play the game of football (or life) on a better team, knowing exactly the kind of man Bobby Bowden is! It would be so appropriate to have Bobby Bowden Stadium, because without this man, it is doubtful such a magnificent structure would have ever happened! While Doak Campbell was a fine Southern gentleman who had much to do with starting a football program at Florida State University, had he not done so, it would have happened; someone else surely would have gotten the idea.........but to have a Bobby Bowden come along and build the program to warrant such a stadium ~~Oh,My! If money could hire a Bobby Bowden, many schools would have already done so !!!! Doak Campbell Field or Doak Tower at BOBBY BOWDEN STADIUM.

I have been a college football fan most of my life growing up in Tennessee. The SEC was all I knew. I became a Seminole fan when I moved to Tallahassee in 1991. Coach Bowden, Chief Osceola, and Renegade made it easy to fall in love with the FSU football program. I enjoyed reading about the early years before Coach Bowden arrived in Tallahassee. The behind-the-scenes discussions about joining a conference and the SEC vs ACC debates were fascinating. I thought I knew a great deal about Florida State University, Coach Bowden, and the Seminoles. What I learned from this incredible book is how the sport of college football has been made so much better because of Coach Bowden's influence. Thank you Charlie Barnes for your writing and John Corry for your documentary film by the same name. Football fans everywhere, there is no better way to spend Saturday nights in the off season than reading this book followed by watching the film.

The Bowden Dynasty book and movie are both spectacular. The history and perspectives from Alabama to West Virginia to Florida State Football are enlightening. And the way Coach Bowden built the Dynasty at Florida State is inspiring. Creating family around young men who need guidance. I am hopeful that this story is seen by every coach of every sport and every parent of an athlete. Winning is awesome. And keeping life's perspectives in order can change the world around us. In this case: Faith, Family & Football.

Bowden Dynasty my Black behind! This thick 464-page book was more about the author Charlie Barnes' career as a fundraiser and member of Florida State's booster club, than about that marvelous 1987-2000 period in Seminole football history.Look, the book at times was funny and there were some page turning football discussions (not all that much I might add). But after every chapter I kept saying to myself, the cat who wrote this book seemed like he was just trying to publicize the FSU boosters organization and on the side make some money off of the Bobby Bowden legend with this book.I grew up as a kid and young man during the 1991 through 2000 seasons and I was hoping to get some consistent narratives on that period in this book. But that wasn't to be.Look, if you want a book that will really talk about Bowden's glory days at FSU, then look elsewhere or at those retrospective/commemorative books here on Amazon that were written by various newspapers in the state of Florida.

This book had alot of info about Bowden's career and inside info that you won't find anywhere else. I would definitely recommend to big time Noles fan or any football fan in general. What he did with this program was like no other.

My husband missed it when it came to the theater. My son and I saw it in the theater and loved it. Had to buy it for the biggest FSU fan alive.

Great story about Coach Bowden and his time with athletes, his dedication to excellence and his world concerning discipline.
