I purchased the 2024 guides to Champagne and Burgundy (Complete edition) expecting the latest up to date information about most of the vineyards and winemakers in Champagne and Burgundy. I was surprised to see that they were not at all what one would expect for the latest issue of an annual guide. The books are newly bound in nice solid covers, but the contents are old. The 2024 in the title is completely misleading since the contents look decades old. Old black and white pictures and descriptions of the regions, vineyards and producers fill the book. The descriptions of the winemakers sometimes refer to people that are no longer in the positions described. This looks like old, poorly edited and often inaccurate information that is repackaged every year with no significant updates and printed using an on-demand system that binds the old material into a solid new cover with the current year printed on it. 2024 indeed!
