Installs (sorta) in HP Pavilion TP01-2137c Desktop
HP says there is no option for a CD drive in the new Pavilion TP01-2137c.....this 9.5mm drive fits in the chassis, and the little metal tabs in the chassis sort of hold the drive in place....note that the actual HP drive is supposed to have a plastic side piece that locks the drive into the chassis, which this drive does not have, but, again, the metal friction tabs in the chassis sort of do the trick. The cables necessary to connect the drive are in place inside the HP TP01-2137c, and Windows 11 recognized that the drive is there. The mechanism that opens the drive is a bit weak, and you may have to help it open and close, but really, how often do you need to put a CD in the drive? Also, the front panel of the drive is just a tad smaller than the opening in the front panel of the HP....meh, I don't care.

Works great.
Really easy to install. Remove top of computer. Unplug two plugs in back of old drive. Pull out old drive. Slide in new one. Plug in two plugs. Screw top of computer back on. DONE!! Works great - burned 3 discs in i hour. Love it!!!

Will not play US-store-bought DVDs on Linux
The drive was easy to install into my Linux desktop and I have used it to play CDs without problems. I can play my own previously-burned DVDs, but this OSGear drive will not play store-bought DVDs. I can play these same DVDs via an external (USB) cd/dvd player (two different ones), but they will not play at all with this OSGear drive although I can see that it is detecting them. I'm not sure why that is, but since that's not my primary intended use-case I haven't investigated further.---Follow-up: After I investigated and installed the "regionset" package, I was able to discover that the drive came pre-configured for Region 2. Once I changed that to Region 1, I was able to play a US DVD.

Exactly what it says but...
Remember this is designed for a laptop and slim desktop PC. Your computer needs the special small power connector!

I bought this in December of 2023, I just died.
I don't use it much, but I bought another one because it was cheap. For some reason my computer stopped recognizing the player. Nothing seemed to work, so I replaced it. Prior to that, it worked just fine.

Works in a MSI S6000 laptop
When upgrading to Win10 in the MSI S6000 laptop, there is no functional driver available for the internal DVD. This replacement DVD fits perfectly after changing the bezel, and the generic driver installed by Win10 works well. After the Win10 upgrade, the button to open the DVD drawer does not work since MSI did not produce an update for the software that controls this keyboard function. However, it can be controlled with Win10 software. Right click on the DVD icon in file explorer and select "eject media" to open the DVD drawer.

Buyer Beware
I go through a DVD drive every 2 to 3 years, so I've installed at least 7 or 8 over the last 17 years. This drive was not recognized by my computer after installing. I rebooted twice and after the second boot, it started working. I would get read errors every 3 or 4 cd's I'd put into it and most of the times I'd have to load the disc in 3 to 5 times before the drive would recognize it. Burning D/L DVD's was impossible. I tried to burn DVD's 4 times and ended up with 5 coasters. This drive is a piece of junk as far as I'm concerned. Pay attention to the bad reviews on this because they describe the product accurately.
