Very good quality
I think better than staples because of the barbs. Hold terrifically well (but still extractable if required). Fit perfectly in my nailer, no misfires. I would buy again in an instant!

Great nails, best bought locally
These are great nails that have worked flawlessly with my Porta-Nail 421 pneumatic nailer (bought the kit with the case, hammer, blind & face shoes, etc.).The 7 boxes of nails that came with my initial order in 2008 arrived in pretty good shape. On a subsequent order in 2010 for 6 boxes of nails I was not so lucky. As has been said: poorly packaged, flimsy box, boxes of 1000 nails broken open with rows of nails strewn everywhere inside the outer shipping box, but more importantly, many of the rows were broken apart into small clumps of difficult to unusable nails. There was probably upwards of a 10% loss. The worst part was that some of the smaller boxes of nails appear to have been already damaged prior to packaging for my shipment as they arrived broken and taped up inside the outer shipping box, though this might also have been a mid-shipment correction.Anyway, this time in 2012 I went to Home Depot and bought 22 boxes of these nails off the shelf. I paid $17.50ea for them (compared to an average of $14.25 previously), but the peace of mind at being able to inspect the boxes prior to purchase and the subsequent joy of having row upon row of usable nails was well worth a few extra dollars. One note: the individual boxes of 1000 Porta-Nails from my second order were of a smaller, lighter construction as compared to the boxes which held the nails from HD. Amazon might not be reading these reviews about packaging problems, but perhaps Porta-Nailer is.Good Luck!

Very strong hold.
Used these for a hardwood install and occasionally made a mistake, when I had to remove one of the boards they held extremely firmly.

Really holding my floor down.
Used these with 3/4" oak flooring going into 3/4" OSB over 1/2" plywood and the NuMax SFL618 nailer. These worked great, they really held the wood down. The instances where I had to pull up a plank for whatever reason, they were REALLY in there! I had very few misfires. If they didn't sink all the way, I used the QEP 10-18 pull bar to help sink it the last few mm. I had initially tried using a nail set and that was just a disaster. The pull bar isn't meant for this, but I could hold it up at a 45 degree angle to the floor, with one of the lips in the notch of the tongue where the cleat was proud, and hammer on the pull bar to drive it in quickly and reliably. If it was REALLY proud (like when I forgot to turn on the compressor and ran way under PSI), I could grab the head with some visegrips and pull the cleat out. But this only really worked if it was really out, these things hold on so well that sometimes the head would break off. Which usually worked fine, at that point I could usually use the pull bar to drive it in the rest of the way. It's been a few months now, and there are no squeaks or wobbles in the floor.
