Absolutely a must read. I'd give 100 stars of I could!!
Let me start off with Holy Amazing!!! This is not my genre of books to read and honestly if not for my husband I probably never would have read them but my goodness!!!!!!! I love this series thus far. The writing style, the laughs my God the laughs just keep coming. I got emotional in areas of the book just because of the subject matter and Katia's exit was it for me 🥹. I honestly can't wait for the next book. Matt you man are something special ❤️ keep them coming please! If you have not read this series yet please do. Its worth every second I promise. Nothing I have ever read has been more action packed. I felt like I was there as a wraith watching all this in live time it is absolutely fantastic!!

From start to finish.
From the beginning of book one to the end of book seven, Matt has done an absolutely phenomenal job mixing and matching game systems and making unique descriptions and rules (and loopholes to said rules) for each floor we travel to. As well as, using each of those things to expand his characters and supporting cast. From Carl to Princess Donut to Juice Box and the AI itself, you feel like you can relate and understand them a little more with each encounter. I would also like to add that mixing sci fi with fantasy can get messy, but the way Matt expands the universe little by little and makes it understandable has been such a breathe of fresh air. The politics are simple enough when they even matter and Carl's attitude towards it is hilariously human. I love these books, this universe, and these characters. Thank you Matt from the bottom of my heart.

The books in this series keep getting better!
As the "current" last book of the series, I tried to read slowly, stretching out the story. But that just wasn't going to happen. Multiple "OMG this is huge" moments kept me reading when I was supposed to be doing things like sleeping or getting ready for work. I wasted time on the web pages, market, and Reddit, just to delay reading more. But alas, I was weak and finished the book much too quickly. Now I have to wait for book 8. Was this book Great? Without a doubt! Do I recommend it? If you've read books 1-6, you already know the answer is yes. Some book series get lost, lose steam, or add in random plot points and people that feel forced and dull. This book was everything he had built up from the early books, and as usual, I would never have predicted this ending. Just a great read.

Book 7 and it never gets boring
This is book 7 of a seris and it cannot be read as a standalone. First, I have to say something about the audiobook, which is really great. The reading experience is actually much better with it. I preordered this but waited until the audiobook was out, then waited some more to get in the mood to read it. I loved all of the other books, and this one does not dissapoint. I found this to be a little too long and too action packed, and maybe it got to the point of being too much, but it's ok, loved it. Could not put it down. The story begins right where the last book left off, on the 9th floor, with Faction Wars. There are 9 teams: 7 aliens, 1 NPC team -team Retribution and the Princess Posse. There's a lot going on, there are some former Crawlers from previous editions, some previous authors of the Cookbook, some characters that we got to know in previous books, there is war, strategies, deaths, drama.I actually really love Samantha. Carl and Donut are great from the start, funny and all, but Samantha actually grows on you. I also really like Pony, but we don't get so much of him. We don't see Odette at all this floor. The story unfolds and we find out more about the Sponsors and other solar sistems and conflicts. It's really complex and convoluted, and I don't want to spoil it.

it got confusing
The fun of having so many likable characters and an author who doesn’t kill hardly anyone off is the reader has to remember a ton of names. I did pretty well, but still…Why oh why did I break my cardinal rule of “never start a series before an author has written the final book?”I’m glad I read all 7 books. Really. I am. But dammit…

Read too soon. Loved too much.
My only regret is that I read this series now in July of 2025 instead of in the fall so I could immediately read the next book. This book is full of twists and turns. I cried and laughed and felt sick to my stomach at times. I will now be starting the series over as I wait for the next book so I can find all the little breadcrumbs that made a trail to the events of this book.

This series cured my bias
I avoid stories about about popular movies that weren’t preceded by books, video game stories or really stories written after the games were popular. It’s partly why I was skeptical of the Barbie and Lego movies. They’re toys and who cares. Stay in your lane or whatever, but this series is f****ing amazing! Diverse characters, wild stories and this particular book was basically an action packed fever dream the whole way through. Do yourself a favor and read the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. Read it if you are a gamer. Read it if you aren’t a gamer. Read it if you can’t read! 10/5 stars

Matt Dinniman is a wonderful author
This series has changed my life.Seriously.I can't go a single day since picking up the books without thinking in-between reading sessions about what could possibly happen next. And, boy, do you wonder because every book is for absolutely STUFFED full of crazy shenanigans, and twists, and turns. Not once, have i correctly predicted what happens next in any of these books. And each one is packed with silliness, and lighthearted moments, followed by some seriously heartbreaking, raw moments as well. Im not even a reader, or wasn't really until finding this series, and I literally could not put them down. I was even late to work on several occasions because I just couldn't pull myself away from devouring these books. And I don't know what to do with myself, now that I've finished them. 100/10
