Nice set of first 6 Avengers movies.
Good set if they can be bought reasonably cheap with upcoming collectors phase 1 & 2 sets, that look interesting. The set itself is nicely put together, Good quality box w/ lid style & nice artwork of each character on open-out disc display & also outer plastic sleeve. Extras are on each disc, but not all eg: Thor, have bonus extras or the full extras eg: IM2 & Avengers. The only slightly negative thing I can see is, discs are from the individual BD releases but not exclusive to this set which was expensive back in 2012.I have seen some of these on Netflix while owning them on Blu-ray over time.Am glad to get them in this original set, which will lead me to have a good look at 'Phase2' collector's edition.IMO actual blu-ray/UHD BD is still the best quality for A/V. I managed to get a mint set of these considering they are from 2012 so happy with them.

a great box set
This is a great collection of movies. It consists of the 'first wave' of films that comprise the Marvel Cinematic Universe. These are: "Iron Man", "the Incredible Hulk", "Iron Man 2", "Thor", "Captain America", and "Avengers Assemble".Each film is presented in full, with lots of extras. The only negative aspect of this box set - as compared to buying individual films - is that the 3D versions are not included. Nonetheless, the box this set comes in is very nice - and proudly sits on my Blu-ray shelf.I'll not review each film ... others have done that. What I will say is that this is a thoroughly enjoyable collection of movies. We're introduced to each character and, over time, they are increasingly shown to exist in a shared universe - and then, in the 6th film, they all come together to save the Earth from invasion. It's a really fun set of films, with lots of super-hero action. It's a shame that some cast members changed (especially as regards Bruce Banner/Hulk). And I think that, in hindsight, Marvel might have added a little more interconnectivity between the films earlier on. But these are minor points, and don't detract from the overall achievement. While I'm personally more of a 'DC fan', I nonetheless wholeheartedly enjoyed this film series. If you don't own these movies, and you're not bothered about the 3D versions, then I recommend this set - as you'll get all six films at once, in a deluxe box. I paid under £40 (new, from Amazon) - so please ensure you don't overpay. They're entertaining for children and adults alike, and make for great family viewing.

Bargin hi def heroes
First off the box is decent, not cheap feeling, holds the 6 discs securely, and it looks cool. Fits fine in my DVD/Blu-ray unit. The movies? Not going to review the plots here, chances are you've already seen em, they are a mixed bag with the shiny new Avengers coming out on top and the Hulk the weakest. In terms of picture quality the Avengers, Thor and Captain America look the best, the others good but not great. Anyhow the main reason to get this set in the price, talk about bang! Crash! THOOM! For yer buck.

Better movies than they have any right to be
I'm a long time (25+ years) fan of comics and even 10 years ago the whole Avengers concept would have seemed impossible, but now is the time of the nerd! Some of these films sound ridiculous and even I am surprised that they got made (Thor in particular on paper sounds like some awful Scy-Fy channel flick). But Thor is brilliant and there is no weak film among these. Even Iron Man 2 which no doubt was the worse received of the movies is actually better upon repeat viewing. Captain America is the other movie I was most worried about before seeing, but I loved it as well.

Assorted grab-bag of discs
When I bought this it was £35, which is a bargain for six Blu-rays, so I don't begrudge the relative lack of special features. However, considering that the movies included in the set have made Marvel/Disney something in the region of $3.8 billion, you'd think that they could print some new matching discs.Instead we get the previous releases popped out of their old cases and stuck in a shiny box. I like the shiny box, but the random appearance of this discs does make the inside of the collection look cheap.- Iron Man and Iron Man 2 don't even match, with Iron Man 2 even saying 'Disc 1' on it.- The Incredible Hulk has a big picture of that film's Hulk on it, highlighting the one bit of casting they couldn't keep for Avengers (excellent as Mark Ruffalo is, that's still a pity).- The Avengers Assemble disc just has a big blue print on it that seems to say "Meh. If the UK wanted a decent disc, they shouldn't have changed the film's name".So, as I say, five great films (plus Iron Man 2) on Blu-ray at a very reasonable price. But the lack of detail work does make it look like they'd rather that people buy their massive "what do you mean we can't just copy your briefcase?" collection, whenever it comes out.EDITED TO ADD - I've also put up a photo of the discs.
