I am so glad I found this book
As a yoga instructor who works with students with a wide range of health issues this book is priceless! I am so glad I found this book. It is easy to follow, gives a lot of modification choices per pose, and clear pictures and step by step instructions.

A book everyone of your students can use for a safe home practice.
What a treat to read Mindy Eisenberg's "Adaptive Yoga Moves Any Body." I have shelves of yoga books and was wondering what could make this book different? Turns out a number of things. First, it is written from the heartland of the Midwest in a way Every Body can understand and access. No fancy names (though classical name are respectfully referenced) and a thoughtful, methodical layout that naturally advances the reader. Eisenberg's concise writing style leaves the book lighter than most without sacrificing essential description. No dense prose to plow through... she takes it straight to the point. She also offers the essential safety guidance to keep it yoga as well. The reader is given many options to participate in the practices and appropriately cautioned from striving or creating harm. Further, her clever (without being too cute) use of ordinary names for practices will leave even the most conservative student comfortable...and those names make it easy to remember the practice too. The years of development come shining through as you almost feel transported into a real classroom of sincere students dealing with significant neurological and musculoskeletal challenges. No wasted fluff here! For instances, the chapter on Mudras is titled, "Hand Gestures" with Mudras as the sub-title. These small details sprinkled throughout just keep inviting comfort and welcoming to readers who might otherwise have no connection to yoga or the stereotyped yoga community culture. My favorite as the Sequences offered in Chapter 9. As a yoga safety expert, she offers sequences for safe transitions, functional "off the mat" practices for use during the day (car transfers, sleepless nights, spasm relief, etc.) and getting to and from the floor. All of the practices are supported with well thought out photographs of ordinary people ...no lycra waif-like gymnasts modeling here. The smart choice on the students suggests, "Hey, I could probably do that too if she can!" Because of all of these wonderful features and more, I highly recommend teachers adopt this book as a great resource for your students to encourage safe, fun practice follow through at home.

Take Control of Your Body ans Mind
Update6-20-16 Those of you in this program already know this, but if you are new to this program or thinking about buying the book, I have been in Yoga Moves MS for 3+ years. I just had a full evaluation by a physical therapist that specializes in neurological disorder/disease, including MS. I am not a candidate for PT. Why? They said to just continue with the yoga, add soft tissue self-therapy, and try to get in a pool and walk. Anything they would do for me there are things I am already doing and can simply add to at home. They love this program!! My health keeps me from class at times, but I have the book and do my best to stay with it.The photos and directions to gain poses in this book, as well as the variations for each pose, are wonderful. This book is not just great if you have limitations or disability, but if you are new to yoga and are not very flexible, this will bring you into yoga in a safe yet extremely effective manor. I have MS and this program has been my primary treatment to slow advancing disability and maintain a strong and straight body as well as mind. It was recommended by my neurologist and is a Godsend.Yoga teachers can benefit from this just as much.

Love this book
Love this book! I’ve recommended it to many people who enjoy it also. The photos show the different variations of a pose which are very helpful with my limitations. I can now feel like I am doing something productive in managing my situation. It makes me feel better physically and mentally. Working out in a gym or a “regular” class environment is not an option for me. I do take an adaptive yoga class with people in a similar situation that I am in….once a week. This book supplements what I am learning without the additional expense and I can fill in daily “down time” with helping myself. This book empowers me to listen to my body, use muscles (sometimes with props) that I would have never been able to engage, and learn how to safely make a difference in my life. It’s helped me with balance issues, headaches, along with many other things. You can do yoga in the comfort of your own home, at your own pace, without judgement. Mindy is a wealth of knowledge that she generously shares to truly want to help people. The best investment you’ll make to help yourself or others. Absolutely written for “Any Body”…..it’s not only helped myself with MS but loved ones with Fibromyalgia, others recouping from an injury (with Dr. ok), even my siblings to do something for themselves in their busy lives. It's a great gift and useful tool for anyone who is newly diagnosed.

This book goes way beyond just the physical postures!
I am thrilled to finally find a yoga book that is not only well organized and beautifully written, but one that provides clear pictures showing the often incorrect postures contrasted with THE CORRECT postures. Being able to see these differences is immensely helping for self-monitoring. This book goes beyond just the physical postures and embraces the true meaning of a yoga practice with intention, mindful awareness, self-compassion and acceptance. It is a welcome resource that I will share with the many stroke survivors with whom I work.
