TimexMen's Expedition North Field Post Solar 36mm Watch

Practicality First
This is a simple, no frills watch from a well regarded brand. It has good water resistance, good durability, and high accuracy. If all you need is a way to tell the time that won’t fail you, buy this watch. As it’s solar powered, it doesn’t need to be wound or have a battery replaced or charged in the foreseeable future. This longevity and low effort maintenance was the most important feature for me, and part of why I chose this over a digital watch (along with digital watches potentially being bricked from firmware).I shouldn’t have to say this but obviously it doesn’t come out of the box charged and working - you need to leave it by a window or something for a day. After that, it will always work so long as you wear it outside every so often. The battery life is claimed to be 2 months but I’m not about to leave it in a closet for 2 months to test this. This is a newer model than the version I’d been trying to buy and it appears to have a more readable face as well as luminescent watch hands which are helpful for telling the time in the dark. It’s also nearly silent so ticking won’t be an issue. My only complaint is the watchband. It’s a serviceable quick release band, but it’s a bit on the short side and I wanted something of higher quality so I replaced it with a Hirsch 120mm/100mm watchband that actually fits and is altogether nicer than the out of the box band.

Know what really counts in a watch
Never needs a battery, water resistant to 100 meters , screw down crown, hackable , Sapphire crystal , never needs to be wound, powered by the sun and extraordinarily accurate. How can you beat that. Certainly not with a Rolex .

Bulky strap, low contrast mar what should be perfect
The good: it’s a beautiful watch, solar quartz, sapphire crystal, screw-down crown, for $150. It’s quiet, unlike every other Timex Expedition. The size is lovely; every company should make smaller watches. I have a 6” wrist. The bad: the contrast on the dial is poor - it’s gray with beige numbers and indices, which is challenging to read even in good light. The lume is terrible, and because it’s solar, you don’t get Indiglo. The case is a bit thick for its diameter, and the band is VERY thick, while also being a bit too narrow (18mm) for my taste. The proportions just felt a bit off for me, and I ended up returning it and buying a Vaer S3 instead.

This is the one
Great watch! Lightweight and comfy to wear. Very accurate as well as it doesn’t seem to loose much time at all. Only slight drawback is the lume isn’t great but that wasn’t a big deal for me. Highly reccomend.

Not happy
Right box and strap but wrong colored watch. Seems to have been reboxed and sold as new

simple, water resistant, accurate, and seems durable
I have had the watch for a few weeks and it has exceeded my expectations. Sapphire crystal face - still perfectly clear after some, mostly light, every-day wear and tear, and an occasional scrape with a wall, and even a couple drops. Movement & accuracy - from what I can see the movement is quite accurate and well within a range that I am happy with. It gains, perhaps, 3/4 of a second per day when compared with the sweep hand on my I phone. In fact, that may be settling down a little now that I have had it for several days. Bottom line, it keeps perfectly accurate time for all but the most finicky. Screw down crown is key and works well. Check it before you go into the water. I snorkeled almost every day in Vieques recently and never took the watch off once. It is watertight and could probably handle much more that showers, pools, and light swimming. I like this watch a lot. Simple, sharp, and reliable. If that's what you want and don't need to make a statement from your wrist, this is an excellent choice. I'm hoping it holds up longer than watches which I have had that are meant to make a statement; I have a feeling it will.

Not as shown.
I like all the features of this watch, with one exception. The size is perfect for me( 36mm, same as my Rolex Explorer). I really appreciate its solar quartz function, however, the watch shown is silver stainless steel in color and the numerals are white. The watch that I received has a darker body and darker numerals and hands. This not unpleasant but harder to see in some situations. If there is a watch as shown,I would really like to have an exchange (actually I would just buy it if available).

Solid Analog Watch
I don't like fancy watches with weird complications. I also don't like watches that are overly large. I want a watch that simply tells the time in an easy to read fashion and that is comfortable on my wrist. I want a watch that will go under a shirt sleeve or jacket. This new Timex does all that! The quartz movement has been very accurate. I haven't had to reset it since I got it. The build quality is very good on this watch. I've examined it with a magnifying glass and I can't find anything to complain about. About the only problem I've found wasn't with the watch at all, but rather the band. I have an 8 inch wrist and the included band was simply too short. I bought a Maratac military band and it works perfectly!
