Review “From the first page of the book I was riveted! I experienced everything with Bonnie and Sam and could really feel what was written on the pages. When she was scared I was scared, when she was frustrated or happy, I felt the emotion along with the author. And I couldn’t stop reading it until I reached the very last page—and even then; I couldn’t stop thinking about it for long afterward.” --Lisa Kelly, from Ice Road Truckers"Bonnie's writing style penetrates deep into your soul... You can not only visualize the scene and location - you become a part of it, emotionally attached and experiencing it with her. Once you pick up one of Bonnie's books, you just can't put them down. My family and I live an off-grid life in northern Idaho and I just love reading her books to enjoy her experiences and life and to reminisce about our start here. Bonnie and Sam are our hero's living in the rough Alaska wilderness... A place we still dream to embrace... I highly recommend both of Bonnie's books. Nicely done Bonnie Rose Ward! The next book needs to be a cookbook with all your AMAZING dishes... May God continue to bless you and Sam!" –Tammy Trayer, author of How To Embrace An Off-Grid Lifestyle, blogger at TrayerWilderness.com, educator and co-founder of TrayerWildernesAcademy.com and host of Mountain Woman Radio on iTunes & Stitcher Read more

And it continues - so good.
I have finished reading the sequel to Winds of Skilak – the continuing saga. I will have to say as I did in my review of the first book that I thoroughly enjoyed this book – it will not let you down. The adventure continues. Sam and Bonnie don’t stop – making plans, making new friends, saying goodbyes to old friends. Taking a chance in purchasing land and building more cabins for guest other people to come and live and enjoy their island. Sam and Bonnie take on new adventures and big decisions that will affect their lives. This author did not let me down and her writing style was consistent from the first book to the second. As I finished the last book I felt like I had moved away from a good friend. I feel like I know Sam and Bonnie. I hope that she will write a book that lets us know about their move from Alaska to West Virginia. Let us know how they and their families are doing. Put on a pot of coffee I would love to sit and visit for a while.

She did it again!
This book was just as good as the first one Mrs. Ward graciously shared with us. This series is the best I have ever read on Building a life in the Alaska wilderness. The stories kept me riveted from start to finish. When I was reading the book I felt as if I was there right with her experiencing the adventure. In a day and age where a lot of literature has questionable and disturbing content it was refreshing to read Bonnie’s honest story. It had adventure along with love and admiration for her husband. The only disappointment I had was when it ended. I really hope she writes a third book for she is a truly gifted writer.

The Continuing Saga a Continuing Success!
Having read Bonnie's first book, I knew I was going to love the "Continuing Saga!" I read this book as slowly as I could, reading one chapter a night because I DID NOT want it to end! Bonnie has a way of drawing you in so that you feel you are there at the table with her and Sam, or on the boat with them fishing or crossing the lake. I also love the fact that Bonnie has several photographs throughout her book giving you a real-life glimpse at their life in Alaska. I've read several Alaska themed books but Bonnie's books are by far, my most favorite. I'm thankful that Bonnie wrote "The Continuing Saga" as I'm sure many others are too. Thank you, Bonnie, for sharing the life you and Sam lived in remote Alaska. I feel like I know you both, although we've never met.

Well-written recounting of ine woman’s experiences homesteading in the Alaska wilderness.
I never give tops marks, but this book is too good for anything but 5 stars. It is a book that you don’t want to put down, but you do because you don’t want it to end. Alas, I did finish it after eking it out to two weeks, but there are no regrets. It is well-written, with plenty of heartwarming moments mixed with some scary ones. I thought the originsl bok was very good, but this sequel us even better. Best for me: the book is real life; autobiographical of the author’s time homesteading in the wilds of Alaska with her husband. Definitely read both books!

She should write about her and Sam's life beyond the island. I want more books from her!
As with the first one; the writing was wondrful, the content very interesting and the whole book is a page turner. I love the way she weaves the woman's perspective into is so seamlessly. The part with Roy kept me up late bcause I was so scared I had to know what happened. Wonderful writer. Write more, Alaska memoir is lovely but it is the writer who is the true star here, not the place...

This book will not let you put it down!!!
Page turner!!! So sad the book ended. Hope Bonnie will write of her adventures from Alaska to building a life on the farm. I felt I made a new friend as we can talk with her on her FB Page! This and her prior book are worth adding to your library!

I loved the second book also.
My family has fished at Skilak Lake just before our son was deployed to Iraq. He was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska so we met up in Soldnata and Kenai and fished a couple of days. We had a very lunch on the shores of Skilak Lake. That is one reason I bought the book but love most of the books I have read about settling in Alaska. The book was well written. The husband has apparently got to be an incredible carpenter and built many log homes by hand. Everything about the book was good and I suggest reading this one and the first book in the series.

Adventures of Sam and Bonnie
I loved this series of blow by blow rough living . After being the father of three girls I always appreciate stories where girls and women succeed in impossible conditions . Bonnie is an amazing woman and it is obvious that she and her husband give each other the strength and backing it takes to accomplish great things . There talents and grit places them up along side of the pioneers who built this country . Not only the life experiences and achievements of this couple amazing but Bonnie's quality of writing is outstanding . She puts you in the middle of situations . Read it and you will be amazed and inspired .
