So, I gave this book a go after seeing a TikTok rec, and tbh, I didn’t even bother reading the synopsis or anything and I am so so glad I didn’t. This book has pretty much everything I usually avoid in a book (single dad, MMC in law enforcement, suspense storyline, interconnected series) and so I know I wouldn’t have even bothered giving it a go if I had, and so I’m so so glad I didn’t.I thoroughly enjoyed this from start to finish, it was so hard for me to put it down to go to bed last night and to go to work this morning. I loved both the MCs, and Owen was brilliant, I really enjoyed the suspense aspect, I totally didn’t realise who the murderer was until it was revealed, and yeah, just a really great book! I’m looking forward to going back and reading the other brothers stories now, because I’m finding myself loving this little (ok, kinda large) family.Would definitely recommend!

4.5 Stars 🌟
Another sweet and heartwarming story from Ms Kingsley, with a nice amount of drama and suspense thrown in.Harper is the new baker in Tilikum, she has such a kind heart and so desperately wants to be welcomed and become a part of the small town. One sure fire way to be accepted is with her amazing sugar cookies and it isn’t long before the word spreads about her amazing talent in the kitchen.Deputy Garret Haven is a busy guy, not only with his patrol duties, his new interest in investigating and detective work but also as a single dad of his teenage son Owen.Neither Garret nor Harper have time for dating ….but sometimes the heart wants what it wants!!It was so lovely to read along as this little family became each others strength. The bond between Harper and Owen was nicely written, there’s a little sprinkling of steam but the main theme is found family and finding the person who will risk anything for you and their family…. I think Garrett would be my hero too!!The mystery element brought another layer that kept me intrigued enough to keep turning the pages!I’m enjoying these Haven brothers very much and no hint of what’s to come…..I’m excited to meet the next couple!

Very good. I enjoyed the suspense and the romance…although I wish there there had been a bit more spice. A great read for a lazy Sunday. Looking forward to the next one.

Baking love!
When Harper moves to Tilikum to help out her aunt Doris and the bakery she finds something a little sweeter waiting. Garrett Haven is a single dad to a teenager and a sheriff's deputy, trying to avoid his aunts matchmaking, he's quite taken with Harper and things become heated fairly quickly. When weird things start happening, Harper blames her bad luck but Garrett isn't sure that's the reason. Can their new found love help them to be stronger together or will the bad luck have the last laugh? This was a fantastic read, with squirrels and colourful characters. Chemistry that's hotter than the oven and cakes to make your mouth water. Can't wait for the next Haven book!

Love at first sight
What an incredible novel of family love, community support and intense mystery. Harper thought she had bad luck, Garrett was working a difficult cold case and was being undermined by the police department. The moment Garrett saw Harper they both realised that their feelings were the real deal. When danger feared its ugly head both Garrett and Harper were in danger. Luckily Garrett was able to save his family, find the person responsible for the murder and cement his relationship with Harper.

As always an amazing story from Claire, she never disappoints.Garrett and Harper were so cute, you couldn’t help falling in love with them, and Owen, oh my that boy! I just wanted to squish his cheeks and cover him with kisses, he is gonna be a fine man. There were a few twists and turns as always, which kept me on my toes.Eagerly now awaiting Luke and Reece’s books now.

loved this book
Claire has changed her writing style slightly, and it is none the worse for that. I have, and have read everything she has published and l had to say that she is one of my favourite authors. That she still finds it in her to write these wonderful stories for us, even with her heart broken is amazing. Thank you Claire xxxx

Mystery, romance and squirrels
Another fantastic book by Claire Kingsley, I was not disappointed and enjoyed the book so much I read it in one sitting.Garrett is Tilikum’s deputy sheriff, he is a single dad to his teenage son and after his divorce has no plans to have another relationship.Harper has moved to Tilikum to take over her aunt’s bakery, bad luck seems to follow her everywhere and she has an idea why that is.Garrett and Harper meet due to his son Owen and the sparks fly, it seems like love at first sight does really exist. This story will keep you on the edge of your seat with unsolved crimes, corrupt officials and a lot of love and laughs thrown in.I received an ARC of this book.

Claire Kingsley never disappoints!
Listened to the audiobook for this one and loved every second of it. An excellent read if you’re in the mood for a small town single dad romance with a bit of suspense.

Great - As expected
Really great story. Quality writing, good character development, and a nice little twist in the plot mystery. I really liked Harper, Garrett, and Owen together.Claire Kingsley sure does great family series. I got hooked on her writing when I started reading the Miles family series. Then the Bailey Brothers came. And now the Havens. She does an exceptional job at weaving stories built around big, chaotic but loving families. The relationships and conflicts are done well.Claire Kingsley writes in such a way that one wishes they could be a part of the Miles family, or the Bailey brothers family, or the Havens. The way she develops the surrounding towns makes you want to go find one and live in one just like them with characters just like the ones she portrays. I know I would like to find an Echo Creek, or Tilikum.Such an enjoyable read. I highly recommend it as I do the first two books in this series. And the entire Bailey Brothers series before it - and even better yet - start with the Miles family series and move forward from there.

Small town romantic suspense perfection!
“I’d never been one to jump into bed with a man, but for Garrett Haven, I would have made an exception”Being back in Tilikum feels like coming home. The small town that the author has built is delightful and quirky. Firmly in her romantic suspense era Claire Kingsley delivers another fantastic story filled with the small town antics we’ve come to love, a sweet connection between a single dad who’s given up on love and a new to town baker who believes she’s cursed and a dangerous cold case that has reemerged and danger that is now focused on Harper.Louise Haven finally scores a match as she orchestrates a connection between single dad & sherrif’s deputy, Garrett & new to town, superstitious bakery owner Harper.Garrett is pretty set on raising his teen son, being there for his family and doing a good job protecting his hometown. However one look at Harper and he quickly falls hard and fast. I loved that Garrett is an all round good guy who just wanted to do the right thing by his son, his family, the town and Harper.Harper is new to town after taking over her aunts small town bakery. Having never quite fit it in anywhere and counting down the days until the end of a broken mirror curse Harper doesn’t quite believe that it’s the right time for her happily ever after. I loved Harper’s resilience and how she opened up to Garrett and the residents of Tilikum.Things heat up quick between Garrett & Harper and I loved how they each overcame their hang ups and start building a life together. The sweet connection between Harper and Garrett’s teenage son Owen was adorable and added a great element to the story. When it becomes clear a cold case that Garrett is investigating is repeating itself with Harper now in danger, Garrett becomes single minded in protecting her. I was flipping the pages eagerly trying to find out who the killer is and was left guessing until it all started to unravel.Highly recommend this if you love small town romantic suspense filled with humour & heart.

Garrett and Harper
I thought this was sweet and a nice read. Garrett and Harper are set up on a blind date but he cancels and they end up meeting after Garrett’s son Owen steals cookies from Harper’s bakery. The storyline was just interesting and easy to follow and keep reading. Would have loved a bit more and to read about their wedding and kids. Loved that there was no OWD.
