Review: Good - Excelente producto Review: Clarity Without Static, Interference, or Dropouts - I've been searching for a new wireless microphone system. Have tried Shure, Sennheiser, AKG, and other cheaper Chinese brands before (for DJ and speech applications)...those were all UHF frequency mics and all of those brands have caused me static, RF interference, and dropouts at one point or another. Some worse than others! I didn't find many reviews of this Samson XD2 but I did see that it debuted at NAMM 2024. Since it was on sale I decided to buy it and try it and WOW, the clarity of these microphones have been the best I've used. Loud clear, no hissing or hums. So far so good, it's been hassle-free and issue-free on the 1.9GHz band. The receiver box is compact and robust. Every function is easy to use by using the knob and pushing it for selection. The LCD screen is easy to read and is user friendly. The microphones are a bit larger and slightly heavier than other brands, due to using 2 AA batteries; but not a big deal. My events are usually 4-8 hours long and the batteries have lasted the duration. It has 2 separate XLR outputs for each mic, or a single TRS 1/4" output for a single mix out. Since purchasing this, I have sold off most of my old mics because I am sold on this Samson!

Clarity Without Static, Interference, or Dropouts

Excellent mic with great sound and NO dropouts
No matter whar group/channel, I always had perdormance issues with my Shure BLX24R, but kept it as I was always led to believe that Shure was one of the best. Even tried longer antennas but no luck. I never put much thought into mics. The breaking point however was when I hosted a big outdoor movie and could not even stand 50 ft away from the receiver without having dropouts issues. After some research on new mics, I bought the Samson XD2 and the specs looked promising. After using it for the first time, I sold my Shure. A great decision! Very happy! Sounds great! Love the range and the quality. I was easily 150 feet away from the receiver and had no issues. I like how you can see the battery life on the receiver base. You can't beat the price either and you get 2 handhelds. A Sennheiser or high-end Shure pushes $1000. Buy this for 1/2 the price. TIP: Set the volume to 40 otherwise, it will over modulate

Microphone doesn’t work
I got the original mics and one worked, the other sounded like talking into a tin can.. They wanted me to buy a new one and return the one that was not working, which I was unwilling to do.. or send back the mics and wait for them to send me a replacement, which I was unable to do because I got rid of my old microphones and I have several karaoke shows per week.. But.. Amazon finally sent me a new replacement and let me send the original one back after I got the new one so I wouldn’t have to be without a microphone. It took several calls but I finally found someone who understood that I can’t do my job with no microphone. That being said, I have the volume on the receiver at 11, didn’t have to change the gain within the mic’s and the gain on the board is at 10 o’clock so I have plenty of headroom. The pickup is excellent off axis and I have yet to hear any feedback. It does need a slight midrange boost on the board if you want it to sound like a shure, and trim the high just a touch, but it’s crystal clear. The body of the handheld is about the weight of an sm58 wireless although it’s top heavy near the screen. If i would criticize it in any way, and I will.. The difference between a 4 and 5 star rating is the mute/power button. The placement is bad and several people at karaoke turned it to mute accidentally. That wouldn’t be the end of the world except that it takes a quick tap to unmute it but the customers hold the button down causing it to try re-pairing and that takes longer. Plus, because the button blends in with the rest of the microphone, sometimes they can’t find it to unmute it and I have to do it for them. However, I work in several locations both inside and outside, including an arcade filled with electronics and i have yet to experience a dropout in signal.

Samson XD2 Dual Microphone Set.
Initially I Loved this microphone set. I own several analog wireless Samson microphones and have never had a problem so when I got these digital microphones I was very excited also that they had the Q8 microphone elements. Speaking was very good but when singing the sound was distorted and unclear. So I was disappointed in the sound reproduction. I need them to perform well for vocals also. Maybe it was the gain I set or the receiver setting I did but I have never had this issue with a Samson microphone. I Love Samson microphones just not this one.

Price vs performance, this one is a winner
This setup is a professional grade product, at a pretty reasonable price considering what other offerings are in the market from the big boy manufacturers. So what makes this a professional grade product? Let’s start with the build quality. The transmitter body packs are metal. And not the thin stuff, this is quality material that’s going to withstand being dropped, stepped on and abused. I have seen products at higher prices that aren’t as well made. The included lav mics are of good quality, actually better than I expected. For broadcast or podcast purposes they would be a solid choice with natural sound and relatively flat frequency response. For live sound, their off axis pickup makes them a bit prone to feedback. You would be well advised to get the mic as close as you can to the presenters mouth so you don’t have to run the gain too high. Alternatively, there are upgrade lav mics for live sound presenter applications that do a pretty fair job of rejecting feedback in this difficult situation. The vast number of wireless setups for professional use are operating in the 500-900 mhz range, this set is working in the 1.9ghz spectrum. This is an interesting choice that separates this setup from the incredibly crowded Wi-Fi and Bluetooth frequencies. One nice feature of these units is the ability to easily pair them to each other without having to manually select frequencies… this helps a lot, because as knowledgeable as you may be, it’s still possible to make a wrong choice, and the automated method may actually eliminate that error. Battery life on the transmitters is outstanding with a published spec of 8 hours. In my initial test I ran the units for a little over six hours and I have no doubt that the published spec is accurate. The receiver features a nice telemetry array displaying radio and audio levels as well as battery condition. Now, that’s not unique as I have seen those features on much lower priced units, however, on this unit it works exceptionally well, so there may be some truth to the reality that you get what you pay for. Output is handled via good quality XLR connectors. Additionally, there is a 1/4” mix output. I’m impressed by this setup… and I honestly didn’t expect to be. For years I have been under the impression that Samson wireless products were a budget line presented by Sam Ash music as a higher profit alternative to well established brands with considerably lower profit margins, and that may actually be true. But with that being said, this is a good and solid product worthy of the asking price. The performance stands on its own merit and the price is substantially lower than the nearest competitor with similar features and specs. At the end of the day, it’s an excellent value.

Excellent pro-quality lavalier wireless system with some nice features.
Excellent microphone system with some excellent features. Here are my three favorites - it has a real metal case, so it will handle a lot of use. Second, it takes AA batteries that last quite a while. Rechargeables go dead, and require time to charge. In a pinch? Just keep a handful of AA batteries on hand (or send someone to the gas station down the street!) and you're back in business. None of this fooling around making sure everything is charged. Lastly - it has a gain knob on the back - so you can adjust each one on a case by case basis. Clearly intended for XLR/Balanced use, it does come with a handy "mixed" output - but it's not what you think (or other reviewers have said) It's only mixed in the sense that it has both channels output on a single 1/4 jack, the same way you would use old-school headphones. There is channel 1, channel 2 and the common ground. This gives you tremendous flexibility when using the system. Only one very very minor downside - when you have the tips on the power adapter it doesn't fit easily back in the box. A minor inconvenience if you travel with the system. Excellent product. Highly recommended.
