Put simply: "this product does not need a battery". Oh yes it does. Despite the instructions 'not to open' the case, the transmitter does nothing until you do. What do you find inside is - a battery - one of those flat lithium jobs. Until you pull the red tag (my pictured, badly), nothing works. Apart from that - perfect, stylish and weatherproof. We shall see how long it continues to work on the not-battery! Also you can set it as a nightlight - a nice touch.

It's rock salt and doesn't come in plastic containers

Given I would rather spend less on salt however this one does last quite awhile and a little goes a long way. I personally use it to season steamed foods and roasting

The product itself is quite satisfactory, but the method of dispensing it into grinders needs to be rethought. It has a peculiar opening tab near the top corner and it is difficult to dispense the product due to the grinder having a central spindle. The tab also is not a satisfactory solution as it is formed out of the cardboard boxing and often doesn't open correctly.
