Outstanding value
This knife came well packed in fitted foam inside a plastic display pack. Everything was in good condition when it arrived. The first thing you'll notice about this knife is it's beautiful pattern weld and mirror finished core - it looks every bit as stunning as it should. The pictures on Amazon do it no justice. The handle is also good looking, finished in black micarta with that familiar exposed weave pattern. Truly a great looking knife. The next thing you'll notice is the razor sharp edge. I have and have owned many knives, but this is the sharpest I've ever received out of the box. This is very much to do with the fine quality steel used in this knife. VG10 is an excellent steel, and at this price is an incredible bargain. This steel can be sharpened to a razor edge easily, but also holds it's edge well and is easy to clean and maintain.Using the knife is a pleasure thanks to the sculpted western style handle. This is not a large knife, and the handle is quite thin which may be an issue for some. For me, it fits my hand very well. The Japanese Santoku shape blade is great for chopping, and the size of this knife is really convenient. I use a 6 inch chef's knife (rather than the regular 8 inch) as I prefer a slightly smaller, lighter knife for general use, and this is even more convenient if I don't need to slice too much.It is worth noting that although the VG10 steel this knife is made from IS made in Japan, the knife is assembled in China. There is nothing implicitly wrong with this, however the quality of manufacturing is not the same. This knife has a slightly uneven grind at the tip, some glue visible where the scale / handle doesn't meet the bolster and pommel perfectly, and one small nick on the flat of the blade. None of these minor defects will have any impact on the use of this knife, and I'd have to have paid double or triple this price for a product made in Japan. I consider this knife to be of good quality for the price.Overall the Tsuki series is the best value knife set I have ever seen, and this Santoku is no exception to that. If you're looking for a capable knife made with a good steel that won't break the bank, I can think of no better option.

Light easy Perfect
It's not a big bulky knifeIt's nimble & feels quickIt's perfect for onions I love it alot! It looks & feels special.A heavier/bigger knife would be better for tough big vegetables, otherwise your hand might get tired if you're using it for more than 20 mins. But for little/medium jobs... This is really good

spectacular knife
I bought this knife due to me training to be a professional chef, I decided I wanted to start my own collection of Tsuki knifes because I loved there distinctive look and I have only ever heard good comments and reviews on them I have also owned global knifes, this is half the price of the well known brand global and id rate it the same standard as my globals and would recommend this brand to all weather you be professional or just a home cook.

Keeps edge well, comfortable to use, fit & finish could be better
When my ancient knife finally gave up I picked up one of these and I've been very happy with it. It's pretty sharp out of the box, and I've touched it up once or twice on a fine stone over the 6 months. It holds its edge very well if you store it properly and don't abuse it.The weight is nice - certainly not lightweight but by no means onerously heavy in the hand. The blade is magnetic so I imagine it would work with a magnetic knife rack if you wanted to do that. The pins/bolts through the handle on my knife aren't perfectly flush with the handle, which is a bit disappointing. It doesn't affect the comfort of the blade, at least in the way I hold it, but QC probably should have picked it up.

My husband loves it!
I bought this knife on behalf of my mother for my husband's 40th birthday and he's very pleased with it. I may get the opportunity to borrow it one day. I'm not counting on any day soon, I may have to buy my own.
