Palestine [Paperback] Sacco, Joe

Superb read - 100% recommended
Joe Sacco is so amazingly amazing, every single instant, in his works, looks like. Atleast so far he has not yet let his reader down with works like The Fixer, Palenstine et al. This is again, a 'graphic novel journalism' at it's best. After reading 'The Complete Maus', Art Spiegelman's classic graphic novel on a holocaust surviver's (his dad!) tale, this is the fist time that I encountered sheer illustrative reporting talent yet another time, in Joe Sacco's Palenstine. And what an irony that while Maus tells the horrifying tale of how a community that was harassed to the extreme, Palestine is the exact reverse of the coin where the victim of Maus is the same community that is the oppressor of horrifying proportions in the Palestine tale. Such a sad tale of human mind gone all twisted and wrong, more through racistic ideals & hatred in the first case, and through affecation of centuries old past & greed to usurp the brother humans' basic rights & properties, in the second. At least a lesson on what one must not do, if one through lack of luck finds oneself as the 'stronger one'!Another tale of the strong oppressing the weak, to the extremes. In graphic novels world it's Maus, Dalai Lama, Palestine - must read, all three! Another pure nonfiction that jilts your sense of fairness & justice. Wonder, when these tales of horror ever end on this earth & will it ever?! Must read for newspaper & nonfiction lovers & a delight for graphic novel lovers too. These 3 works are especially relevant in 2015, when India governance has changed hands and people at the top are now reconsidering which idealogy to side with, like on Tibet vs China, Israel vs Palestine... wish much that, India stood more by the oppressed, again, as the country's past has no oppression that she initiated herself & she has indeed undergone oppression many times & knows the pain of racism & marginalisation of people in their own country.Summary: It's rare to find a master journalist who can do such fabulous illustrations in addition to his humorous masterpieve reporting of real life tales - it's Joe Sacco all the way. He's definitely up there, on standards, at par with Art Spiegelman himself!

A collector's item.
Few graphic comic books can capture truth and emotions so powerfully and teleport you across to the scene of action. Joe Sacco manages to do that in an unimitably unique style.

Awesome book for a good price!
Seller service: Got the original copy for a good price on time.Book: The book is totally worth it for people interested in the issue. Joe Sacco is one of the very few journalists who have covered the Palestinian side in a perspective different from the usual ones. Graphics are as good as it can get.

A brilliant read. Sacco's depiction of the condition of the Palestinians is beyond comparison. The calm and disinterested tone he uses while interviewing the people made the absolute horror of it all the more tangible. I am already planning to order all of his other works soon.P.S. and I love Amazon for delivering the book way before the expected date. Thanks, guys.
