I liked the ease and speed that this translator allows communication. I got to play with it a bit before it stuck on some trash that was in the same pocket and fell into the lake when I pulled it out. Never got to try it with our French family. I believe it would have worked great. I recommend it

Bought for a trip to China. Tested voice translation with my Chinese wife and it was meh (some inaccuracy and loud with no volume control). Tried photo translation on some Chinese packaged products and there was some sensible translation along with a lot of gibberish. This devce is not terrible but it won't improve my experience, because I have a live translator, albeit with not great English.
