Too Many Reasons to Live

Every reason to buy it.
A schoolmate died of MND a few years ago, so I had a (very) vague knowledge of the disease. Since his death a few decades ago, MND neither has the spread of awareness like, say, cancer, nor does the fight against it - it's still uncurable at todays date - appear to be making significant breakthroughs. This memoir, Doddie Weirs' excellent book, and the unbelievable efforts of the Rugby community, especially Kevin Sinfield plus media coverage of these 2 guys immense fight have put MND firmly in the concsiousness of the public. The book itself is written in a refreshingly honest, witty way, with contributions from both team-mates and opponents of Rob, all of whom describe Rob, uncondescendedly, as one of the very toughest people to play Rugby League, despite his diminutive size.Never once trying to elicit sympathy, but simply telling his story as it is, I had the dubious pleasure of watching him score his greatest try, touching down in front of me at the 2011 Grand Final at Old Trafford against St. Helens. I say dubious as a fan of Saints, but the lad was honestly awesome in the flesh, and I hope he forgives my invective aimed in his direction that evening, as I forgive his occasional antipathy towards my preferred Rugby Union.May his reasons to live continue to delay the impending death sentence this great sportsman, and even greater human being lives under.A brilliant, inspiring book which should appeal to virtually anyone who has a passing interest in reading.

An excellent read
Followed Rob's story on news reports and felt I had to read his book. Full of humour and moments of sadness. Found it very difficult to hold back tears at times but I am glad I read it. Full of comments from Family, friends and players, making it an excellent read. R I P Rob Burrow. A true sporting legend.

An inspirational man and read.
An inspirational family man and sportsman. A heart felt read and how MND took is like away from him and his family and friends. An excellent book, highly recommend.

Good read.
I know ROB was a rugby player, but this book is a lot to do with rugby games. I thi k I expected it to be more about the MND.and how he is affected.Admittedy there is a bit about that and his life, but it mostly about rugby games.Have not finished it yet but not much to read, but yes quite interesting.

Heart warming and uplifting
As a massive Rob Burrow fan, I bought the book soon after it was released. I hadn't read it as I was worried it would be really sad. That is not the case at all. It's peppered with stories from his highs and lows in rugby league and also parts where team mates, managers and opponents have a chance to have their say too. There's lots of really funny stories included. There's also parts where his family talk about learning about Rob's diagnosis and how they've coped since. Knowing Rob is now gone is hard but what a legacy.
