REXEL RSS2434 Not too bad for a low to mid-use shredder
The good points are that it is not too heavy to move and has easy carry handles on the front and rear, and it is very quiet when shredding. It can also handle 10 or so pieces of paper easily but you do have to ensure the paper is pushed right down to activate the blades. It has a pullout drawer. The not so good points are it is a STRIP shredder, not cross shredder and shreds into very long strips but that is still pretty safe. The run time is not good at all, I think it states 16 minutes then has to cool down for 40 minutes so is ok if you shred as you go along or don't have a huge box to dispose of.The shredder comes with one paper bag for the shreddings which ripped as soon as I tried to remove it from the shredding bin so I ended up picking up lots of loose shreddings. The easiest way is to shred straight into the bin and empty into a large bag.I had an old REXEL Durasteel shredder and when they say, "they don't make them like they used to" they are not wrong. I had my old shredder for 20 years and it shredded a lot of paper, discs and credit cards and never put a foot wrong, unfortunately it was damaged in a flood so I have been looking for something as good as and this shredder seemed to be the best. The shreddings drawer slides out which is a much better design than the ones that you have to lift the top-heavy top off and find somewhere to lay it, then empty the bin.It is pricey for what it is but by far better than the £60 one I purchased which I needed to wear ear defenders to operate. So, in summary, a good enough shredder for home / home/office use but I am still disappointed in the run time and the bin emptying is not that easy, or mess-free.

Shreds quietly and easily
Good points are that it shreds very quickly and quietly. It is easy to input paper and with the auto setting the mechanics stop once the paper is though and then restarts when paper presented again. Useful lights for paper thickness and temperature. Good large capacity bin.Dislikes. It has a warning light to indicate bin full so won't accept any more paper. However light is too sensitive, it lights up after around three passes of paper and then it means opening the bin and pressing down the shredding's. Then it will work for a couple more passes then bin has to be adjusted again. It is a nuisance rather than anything else. The supplied paper bag is useless, when I used it it would not unfold properly and tore when putting it in the bin so use machine without a bag. At a £1 bag its an unnecessary expense anyway. The manual is a multi machine one and is confusing. The diagram shows an oil level light and the instructions refer to an oil reservoir but here is none, a lubricating sheet instead which is better. So overall I am pleased with the product but wish I could disable the bin full light.

So Far So Good
Quiet and effective. The shredder gets through shredding calmly and steadily without the screaming of a wood pulper. The bin is large and does not need emptying too frequently. It is also easy to get in and out. The shredder has a switch at the rear to swich it off when it is not being used which is good so that it is not left on automatic inadvertently. I am pleased with it so far.Update: May 2017. This shredder is still going strong and I have no issues with it. It is definitely a good buy that is worth the cost.Update April 2019 .I bought this in 2015 and it is still going strong. I have had no issues with it. I use it for shredding confidential papers that I no longer need for work as well as home stuff also so it gets a lot of use. This is the first shredder I have had that hasn't died after a short time. I would look for another of these if ever I needed to.

Good shredder based on 24 hours' experience BUT.......
Update to below review - after very light use over a period of less than 6 months, the shredder stopped working properly - it would start shredding a document but then stop after 1 - 2 seconds. I contacted Rexel who I guess tried to be helpful but in the end told me there was nothing they could do as I am in Hong Kong and they have no support here. so for a HK-based person that's not much help - minus 2 more stars.Delivered yesterday - very easy to start off with minimal set-up required. I immediately shredded a couple of hundered documents that had accumulated and it coped well. Pretty quiet, reasonable shredding speed, shred size quite large but OK unless documents are ultra confidential. BUT - one major (for me) complaint - why put on a power cord that is less than one metre in length??? This means you either have to have an inconvenient and unsightly extension cord or it severely limits the location you can use it in. Do companies never actually use the products they create to take account of practical points like this? I'd recommend this shredder based on my experience so far but with that one silly but actually quite important qualification which loses the product one star.

Excellent for low security shredding
A robust machine that shreds wads of various sized documents with ease and keeps going for ages. I filled the bin twice with continuous shredding and it didn't cut out or get jammed. The bin is easy to pull out and empty. You can get bin liners but found it easier to do without. I hadn't appreciated that security level P-2 means it cuts 0.6mm wide strips, so if you feed in a page sideways then whole lines of text are still readable. The answer is to make sure you feed in vertically, but even then if somebody was determined enough they could put the strips back together!. So it's not for sensitive material but perfect for high volume low security shredding. The wide strips also make a lot less mess than the cross-cut shredder we had before.

Good, but NOISY
Very loud, can hardly hold a phone call while running, but sturdy and effective
