As a free- spirit writer who has often turned my life completely on its head and reinvented myself, I felt so seen and celebrated by Joy Sullivan's book. She touches on so many themes with such specificity of detail, brilliantly fresh metaphors, humour and compassion. Her book and experiences are absolutely dripping with *courage*. I read this book while in a stable era in my own life, but I saw the girl I used to be in so many of her poems, and I saw that girl's fearlessness. I wish I had her book back then, it would have been like a Bible to me. I recommend this for anyone in search of inspiration or reinvention, or really anyone who just loves language and poetry. Joy is a master at what she does!

This collection was honestly a ‘can’t put it down’ read. I read it at a time when i really needed to be reminded of myself, and Joy does such an incredible job of being ferociously honest yet vulnerable and often cuts through to the bones of things when you least expect it. A must read!

A beautiful and raw set of poems which really stopped me to make me think.

I am a poetry nerd who buys at least 1 new-to-me book of poetry each month. This has become my #1 favorite book of poetry. I have purchased at least a dozen copies to give as gifts and everyone loves it. It has become my go-to gift for loved ones who I think would love poetry but are a bit intimidated to dive in. Even for someone who has never read any poetry, this book will not intimidate you...it will give you a hug and make you feel seen and loved from the very first page. Do yourself a favor and read this book. And Joy - if you are listening - please give us more of your poems! They are nourishment for my soul.
