Denon Avr-3805
I love this receiver even though it's a little out dated but for the price, it was an excellent choice

Why would Amazon sell discontinued products?
I bought this receiver a couple of months ago. I am generally satisfied with the quality albeit, I was shocked to know that this is a discontinued product! This means, there is virtually no chance of Denon offering any updates/patches on this product.I hold Amazon is high esteem but I am very surprised to find it discontinued products on the catalogue. For couple of hundrer dollars, I could have bought something is HDMI switching right on this website.

My last Denon receiver
Owner manual is terrible and not user friendly. The remote sucks. Mine broke after 3 years and Denon did not sale replacement remote. Many functions can only be controlled from the remote only and does not works with 3rd party remote. To switch back and forth from 7.1 to zone 2/3, you need to plug and unplug the speaker cables from the back of the receiver, then goes through the complicated setting to assign power amp and so on. If your remote broke, you can not control the volume on Zone 2/3. Volume control on the receiver only works for the main zone.In my previous 5.1 Kenwood, I could switch back and forth from 5.1 to 3.1+Zone 2 with a push of a button.

Great AV receiver, powerful, full of options, stable down to 2 ohms at 240wpc dynamic
Picked one up used for $25 at a yard sale and I must say, I was blown away...I am not going to go into much detail but I will say this amp is very powerful and full of options. No HDMI but that is OK because I am using RCA and I went from having NOTHING to having an awesome DENON. I couldn't believe I found such a great deal.It is rated to 240wpc down to 2 ohms so it can handle some decent speakers. The sound is good as well with many options. No matter what I do, I cannot get this amp to distort with my Infinity Interlude IL40's, IL10's and IL25c. Once I dialed in the crossover settings and the delay, as well as adjusting from large/small, etc., the sound is amazing. Everything disappears and it is as if I am in the recording studio. I dont want to offend any "audiophiles" but this sounds just as good as some 5 figure systems I have heard. Many options in the back as well but I find most of them over kill due to the fact that I run everything (video) through my DVD and Xbox straight to the TV (other than sound). I listen in 5.1 through RCA and optical audio, so I dont use %80 of what is on the back. I am glad it is there though just in case I need it and I am sure many others will find it useful. I am a 2 channel kind of guy but since I have discovered 5.1, I am thoroughly satisfied. The remote is a little complicated at first but once you get to know it, it gets easier. The batteries do wear out quick though due to the nature of the on/off.If you can find one for under $200 and you dont need/want HDMI, BUY IT.

Home Theater receiver
Great receiver. Needs at least one more component video input or the ability to assign more than component one to the same video and digital settings to take advantage of component inputs on a hi-def tuner.

Keeper.
I think denon usually makes good products and have for years. People still look for the old dra series mostly because of the sound quality and dependability of these amps. Always love to see made in Japan on the back unless it was US.Yes there are plenty of bells and whistles, but everything seems to be very well executed. The phono section sounds good, the tuner is above average, it sounds great and best of all I think they have proved dependable unlike some of the newer models that have used inferior hdmi boards... overall I can't fault this beast. The only down side I can barely see is that it says best down to 6ohms and someone had some problems withow impedance speakers, but oddly mine seems to be fine with my 4 ohm fortes.Kudos Denon. This model is a keeper!!.

Faulty unit, very poor Denon customer service
Read the reviews of other Denon Products and see how many agree...BE CAREFUL WHO YOU BUY THIS FROM -- MOST etailers are NOT on Denon's approved list -- and they will NOT honor the warranty if bought through them. Denon has two tiers of product marketing: very high price thru an "authorized" dealer and warranty support or low price thru an "unauthorized" dealer with no warranty support. Visit Denon.com to view the limited authorized supplier list. Denon will have NO MERCY if you buy thru a non-authorized dealer, despite having sold to them in the first place! You won't find this technique employed by Sony, Panasonic,...My unit performed perfectly for about 4 weeks. The sound configuration takes some figuring but is sheer beauty when done. The 7.1 signal processing works wonderfully. Unfortunately, the component output completely stopped working without any warning and I am left with a large "boat anchor" in need of several hundred dollars of repair. I'm pretty discouraged...
