Clarke CHT684 50” Clamp Guide - 1801684

Looks good but it does move side to side at the clamp by about 1mm. This is due to poor engineering because the plastic "slide" that is part of the the clamp is approx 1mm smaller than the metal fence. I have modified mine by "padding" the groove on the slide with a strip of tin 1mm thick. See pics. It is glued in but stays in place anyway once the slide is put back in the fence.

Works fine but if you want really accurate results you have to take regard to the play between the clamps and the steight edge (1 to 2mm)

The Clamp itself appears to work OK and quite sturdy (It only arrived two days ago and I have used it once!). What was surprising is that it measures 50 inches long by about 2 inches wide by about 2 inches deep and the box it arrived in was 48 inches long by 28 inches wide by about 8 inches deep. A bit of an overkill in the packaging!

A good guide for your router you will need to add additional clamp on each end to stop it from moving. The clamp that is already attached is good enough to stop it moving once you have setup which is helpful then add on a clamp on each end to make sure it is secure. How much robust it is well only time will tell but it is definitely better than cheap ones. I have dropped it a few times and clamped on different thickness and lengths and so far so good on the clamp brackets on wear and tear materials definitely better than cheap ones.

Needed something to give me a straight edge to cut long boards and this has worked well. I use it with my circular saw and it gives a good solid grip of the work piece and it does not move. a good cutting guide.

The plastic end cap broke the first day on the job. Very weak/ should be made out of aluminum and same with the center clamp.

I'm not particularly displeased with this item, it's straight enough but has arrived in very poor condition with scrapes and small dents all over. I will keep it only if you reduce the price, so contact me asap.

The item has arrived damaged see pictures. The rear mount plates are made from cheat plastic however the clamp still works at the moment, not sure how long it will last with the current fault shown in the pictures. I will be happy the keep the product providing I receive a discount as this is a fault product. Please contact me ASAP
