These shorts are very comfortable and I get compliments all the time. I would not suggest getting them too big. If they don't stretch a little they won't look as good.

These are at least 5" above the knee.The fit is great, color is right but they are much shorter than I expected. I was pretty shocked , honestly the difference was so much that I thought perhaps they shipped the wrong item. I'll keep them, but I won't be able to wear them where I planned on wearing them when I purchased them just due to the length. Not really appropriate at that length for me but they'll be fine for camping though.
