Jurassic Wars Sharktopus Vs Pteracuda [DVD]

The original Sharktopus film was a fun time waster with some half-decent special effects and a forgettable but passable plot. This film is a sequel, this time pitting son-of-Sharktopus with a newly created monster being a hybrid of a pteradactyl and a barracuda. Apparently this monster has been developed because of some nonsense about drones and how this would be more useful to the government (this thing has a chip in its head which supposedly allows it to be controlled). However the pteracuda gets hacked and therefore we need Sharktopus to save the day (??!!).This film is a huge disappointment. It seems the filmmakers decided to spend their limited budget on lots and lots of cheap and nasty digital effects (including far too much digital blood flung onto the screen) rather than take the route of the previous film to have less CGI but better quality. The effects are so bad that they are completely distracting from what is going on by way of story. Not that that says much because there really isn't any story. What could have been lots of fun unfortunately turned out to be a real borefest and I needed to switch it off a few times and steel myself for another stint. It's a shame because the Cormans were involved in the production and they have been able to do so much better than this with other films.

Obviously from the title and storyline you can kind of imagine what this film is going to be like.This was actually better than I thought it was going to be.It’s pretty well acted, the CGI isn’t terrible.I mean it’s obviously a particular type of ridiculous film, which is exactly what you want to watch on occasion.Give it a go!

It was a great film. Plenty action and if you like blood and gore this one certainly has plenty. People getting their heads ripped off and blood spurting out like a fountain. A must see. Definitely worthy of 5 stars.

This is an extremely low-budget film, made by people with more time than sense on their hands sadly. It barely falls into the "So Bad It's Good" genre too, action rarely features and that which does is repetitive and filled with uninspired moments, while long parts of the script drag on unnecessarily.
