Steel Tongue Drum 12 Inches 15 Notes Musical Instruments, D Major Percussion Instrument with Soft Bag, Music Book and 2 Mallets for Meditation (blue)

This is a really pretty steel drum. Do I know anything about them? No. Am I musical? No again. But I love to tap it and hear tones. It is soothing to me and I'm going to read up on how to use it with yoga. I found the easiest way to get a strong tone was using the mallet. I didn't know how to use my fingers so didn't get much sound that way. I plan on leaving it out in my den so guests can pick it up and amuse themselves when they come over.

I ordered this because I am a musician always looking for new sounds. This is a very nice instrument for quiet soothing music. It is tuned in D major and I tested it with a tuner and found all the notes to be reasonably well in tune. The note layout is different from smaller steel tongue drums I've seen, so it's going to take me a while to get the scale patterns down, but since the instrument is diatonic, you can play notes almost at random and it will sound ok.There is a yarn belt that goes around the 'equator' of the instrument. I found that to be a little bit frustrating to put on, but I finally figured out how to cinch it up with the outer strings on the belt's edges. I presume the belt is intended to dampen some of the stray overtones, or maybe it's just a decoration. It looks nice so I took the trouble to figure it out.The instrument comes with a carrying case which is somewhat cheaply made, but it does the job. There is a nice colorful instruction book with basic playing instructions and a good selection of songs.

This steel tongue drum had me from Tone One! I'll admit that I did not know for sure exactly what it was or even how to use it before I got it, but I wanted to enhance and expand my meditation sessions, and I knew this drum could be used for that. From the first strike of the drum with one of the drumsticks, I knew I had made a good and right choice.I then I discovered the booklet with instructions on how to use the steel tongue drum which includes a songbook of songs familiar to most of us and was able to play some of them immediately. Also included in the box was accessories for use in finger playing, and a padded carrying case with detachable strap, and more.This musical instrument is all I expected and more. Buy with confidence.

I'm a hobby musician and I have been slowly been adding instruments to my collection over the years.I have always wanted a steel tongue drum and was excited about the colors and finishes offered. I like that this drum includes rubber tipped mallets. The sounds are nice and soothing especially the mid and upper range. My only complaint is the low notes are muddy, especially the lowest. It's like it this particular note doesn't vibrate or resonate properly. Overall, the build quality is good and it does produce enchanting bell-like notes with plenty of sustain and is a great addition to my collection.

My son collects musician instruments, and this will eventually be a gift for him. I played with it a little and enjoyed that you can be clueless as to what you are doing, and it still sounds beautiful. I love the book that comes with it giving directions and providing songs you can play. I think this is a critical part of the package for someone not trained in playing.

This drum sounds wonderful, was well packaged and comes with everything you need to play, mallets, a song book and instruction, tuners, and extra stickers. It has a nice protective wrap too but I generally don’t use those because they slip off but it’s very well made. Quality drum that sounds fantastic and is beautiful enough to display.

This is a beautiful teal colored steel tongue drum. It is labeled on top of it, allowing you to see what is what. It comes with a nice durable zipper storage bag for the drum with handles. It also comes with sticks and several other accessories. It produces amazing beautiful sounds with a tap.

I got this for my morning routine to accompany my singing bowls and I love this even more than I thought I would! It’s beautiful and easily creates a wide variety of sounds even for a beginner like me! I look forward to using this every morning in my meditation practice!
