Amazon Basics Voltage AC Charger for Nintendo Switch

So I bought this charger very very recently, and it works just fine on the Switch as far as I can tell. I wanted to mainly review the size because, as some people might know, the dock plug doubles as a portable charger, but if you're trying to store this in a case, then the dock plug is too large for the main carry cases on the market. Trying to store the Nintendo charger inside the case puts way too much pressure on the Switch.I'm currently using the Hestia Goods case with room for the Switch, games, controllers, extra set of controllers, and a cable (see photos). This charger just fits in place of the cable. Here are the dimensions of the charging block:Width: 1.5 inchesLength: 2 & 1/8 inchesHeight: just under 1 inchThis charger fits the bill. I had already researched the voltage and amperage output on the native charger, and they match this one: 5V, 2.6/3A. The best feature of the Switch is its portability, and a charger that stays with the device is preferable to storing and traveling with the plug separately.

The AmazonBasics Nintendo Switch Charger works effectively for short term charging of my Switch. Because the Switch's main charger is plugged into it's dock (and hidden well behind with all the cables for my television), we really needed a charger for quick charges on the go. The AmazonBasics charger works well to charge our Switch for short periods of time while we're out and about. It allows us to charge the Switch while we're playing, and doesn't seem to heat up the Switch any more than it normally does during normal play. The cable seems durable, and the plug is slim to allow for it to be carried in most carrying cases along with the Switch. Would I use this to replace the original charger? Probably not. But if you're looking for a cable for short periods of time while on the go, this is a good one to consider.

If you require a good 5 V.DC. .5A charger or AC Adspter, this seems to be a nice one. Works well especially if you have an older product that is not compatible with the new triple voltage “Fast Chargers” Note that the end of this Charger is the newer USB Tyoe C oval plug so you may need a USB Type C Female to USB Type A or B male adapter to use with what is the old standard USB.Besides Nintendo this is a good value AC to 5 Volt DC Adapter unit.

I've had this charger nearly two months. During that time it has worked great. Really enjoyed this charger due to the slim form factor and low price. It's great for fitting into some of the slimmer cases out there. Unfortunately, I just encountered a deal breaker. For the first time since owning the Switch, I allowed the battery to fully deplete. I plugged up this charger and it will not get the device out of the low battery mode (see photo). The Switch indicates it is charging, but it most definitely is not actually charging. The battery progress bar does not increase whatsoever. I waited one hour before deciding, yeah, this isn't going to work. Furthermore, my Switch became quite hot during this time. I wish I would have noticed how hot it was sooner. I really hope this charger didn't damage my Switch's battery. For what it's worth, I did notice one other reviewer mentioning this flaw. Not sure if we're dealing with a situation where all these chargers perform this way or if it is a few isolated cases. This situation has made me second guess purchasing other AmazonBasic electronic accessories moving forward.

I purchased this in May and it has been working great until about a week ago. it no longer charges my switch, but continues to work fine for other devices. I use this adapter for my Switch, my cell phone, a pair of bluetooth headphones and a pair of earbuds. sometime just about a week ago my Switch battery was getting low so I plugged in the cable and continued playing as I usually do, but then about 5 mins later I got another warning from the Switch that the battery was running low. I closed the game I was in and went back to the main screen and the battery indicator said I was down to about 5% and there was no indication that the console was being charged. I quickly put the console back in the dock and let the battery fully charge. While that was charging I tried plugging my phone in and it immediately started charging. I then tested my headphones and my earbuds and they also started charging. My switch is the only thing that has stopped working with this adapter. I would give 5 stars cause i love this ac adapter, and I can still use it for my other devices, but the main reason I bought it was for the Switch and it no longer works for that.

This works beautifully. I use it at work with a USB-C dock replacement dongle and a powered usb 3 hub to play SMASH on lunch with my coworkers while I leave the OEM dock and charger at home.I also use it on my MBP 13" 2018 with USB C ports without issue. It does lack the last voltage your provided 61W Apple charger, however I have not found that to be a problem. I run my laptop off it doing a time machine base backup over ethernet and it still charges the battery while doing the backup.
