Maybe think of it this way: This TCL TV has four times as many total pixels as a regular HD TV has. When it displays true 4K content, each of those 8 million or so pixels is able to display a separate and distinct bit of the total picture, yielding a razor-sharp, photorealistic image. But when 1080 content is displayed, each 4-pixel group displays the same info, though the entire screen is filled out smoothly via software "interpolation," otherwise known as upscaling. This set does a particularly good job with upscaling.

Q: Does the s405 have a "premium highs speed hdmi input? the playstation 4 pro requires this to output 4k games properly.

Yes, the S405 has the required HDMI inputs to support 4K gaming, but there is a specific setting that has to be changed in order for this to work. To change the HDMI mode, go to Settings>TV Inputs>Select the input where the PS4 is connected and select go to HDMI Mode. There, you will select HDMI 2.0. Once you've made this change, you should be able to select 2160-YUV420 from the PS Pro Video Output Settings. Thanks,TCL USA Support.

If you want a seriously detailed answer to the question, follow the linked video at the end. But the TLDR is that it's not doing 4K in the same way as others. And it's not technically 120Hz. But ur eyes won't be able to tell the difference. Yes the amount of pixels needed for true 4K is expensive to make. Yes the price is too low. No it's not high quality nor 120Hz. But visually it IS an image that is as clear and defined as 4K at 120Hz would be on an AVERAGE panel. Different design, similar results, maybe a slight difference in contrast, etc. Unfortunately there's no way to compare this to other TVs since TCL is the only one doing things like they are... but yeah, he's right... it is a fast growing company for a good reason. And you may have to deal with a return or two before getting one that works. But when they work, they work for good. My suggestion? Don't buy if ur in a rush or aren't patient. Hi Jewel,The set has 2 stereo speakers, driven by an 8 watt-per-channel amp. It has good sound for a TV, meaning that you can turn it up to listen to the news, your favorite TV shows and understand it. Certainly not as good as a sound bar, etc., but I haven't had to rewind a TV show because I couldn't understand them.PS, private listening of your streaming services is also an option by downloading the Roku mobile app and plugging your headphones into your smartphone or tablet.Hope that helps,TCL USA Support
