Clear way to educate those that waste energy.
The media could not be loaded. This is a clever little device that is going to do wonders to educate my kids about why I tell them to turn things off. Simple to set up, just unplug whatever it is and plug it back in via the device, then it's ready to tell you just what it costs to run everything. To my shame I have not checked the actual cost per kw/h but it was easy to set up a value which I will correct when I'm feeling less lazy then has current power usage, min and max, current Watts/Amps and total used. The video was me turning my TV to standby showing it dropping from 100W to 0.1.The display is large, which does make the unit fairly large, but not obtrusive and it's not back lit so wouldn't shine out in a darkened room. With the current trend for smart meters and caring about the amount of electricity we are using this is a valuable real-time display. I shall be using it to try to keep my energy usage less than my solar panels are generating.

Confused
If I could set this up it would be great to monitor electricity we are using on our hot tub but no matter how often I read instructions I can't get it right. I do all the first things and our unit of electricity is 13p I've used up and down buttons and put it in cost but that isn't right please can someone explain step by step where this info goes?

Works Well
Brought this device to get cost estimates for appliances around the house. Can put in cost per KWh and gives total cost for power used. Really helpful. Neesd a button to reset just the current reading. Is reset button that clears everything but then needs cost putting in again but easily re-entered.

and a bit of trial and error in getting things set up but once its done you can keep a good eye on your energy consumption
I have a couple of high powered oil filled radiators and I've always been wary of using it because I thought it was using a lot of power. With this power meter I can now monitor the cost of energy consumption on high powered items. You can set the cost of electricity so you can monitor actual cost or you can use one of the 7 different modes to display various combinations of items on the screen including cost, watt, time, voltage, max consumption, min consumption. It does take a little time to set up, and a bit of trial and error in getting things set up but once its done you can keep a good eye on your energy consumption.

Does not monitor usage on an intermittant electricity suppy appliance
I wanted to establish my electrical consumption of my greenhouse heater over a month or two . The power to the heater is thermostatically controlled by a separate device which is wired in to my main supply. Therefore the supply which this product is monitoring is periodically cut off as the temperature rises above a preset level. Once the supply is switched off by the thermostat all data is lost . There is no battery backup to store earlier usage which contradicts the description on the website.

Screen difficult to read when plugged in
If I was buying such an item again I would pay extra and get one with a backlight. Unless your socket is ar eye kevel this display can not be read whilst plugged in.

Simple to program and use, works well
Fundamentally this is an ammeter/voltmeter with an LCD display. It shows how much wattage is being used by the hardware connected. I use it in the lounge to show the cost of running a small electric heater, which is much cheaper than heating the whole house via the central heating system. You program it simply with the cost per unit of electricity, and it displays how long it's been on, the live power consumption in Watts, and the total cost. It's simple to set up and use and is ideal when matched to a heater or other high power device to keep and eye on energy usage.

The worst instructions ever
The instructions are worse than useless. I've had it three days now and still don't know how to get it to show me the cost of electricity for each time i use it rather than the total cost since I've had it.Avoid.
