Cutey MayJapanese Shoes Geta Wooden Clogs with Tabi Socks

I wanted geta to go along with my kimono, but didn't want to wind up with a pair that would be too small to fit my long, narrow feet. Hence ordering this pair as they were a less expensive option with a quicker shipping time.On arrival, they were packed well and in great shape. The tabi (socks) were tucked into a plastic bag next to them to ensure they're clean.This is the first pair of geta that I've worn. I'm delighted that they fit well enough that I was quickly comfortable walking in them. The thong part is in the center of the shoe, which leaves the foot somewhat off center as the thong goes between the large toe and the one next to it.The height isn't bad as it's more of a platform, even heights on both pieces. The balance point is more towards the back rather than the ball of the foot, so leaning slightly back towards the heel makes them work better.The finish looks quick and inexpensive - the bottom is unfinished to allow the wood to finish drying, but one side looks scraped, and the other has blotches of finish near the toe. Does this matter? Will it be seen while being worn? Nope, but noting because it may be a deal breaker for those fussier than me.

I feel that this type of shoes, no matter who makes or sells them, are overpriced. I could make these myself. However, I appreciate that I don’t have to. The quality of these shoes was absolutely gorgeous. The was exactly as I was hoping. They are very sturdy. I have no issues with walking. The rubberised bottoms really help on surfaces. I am very pleased with this.

They are solid shoes for cosplay and I think they are fairly comfortable but the socks that come with are very thin and not very stretchy so they are kinda uncomfortable. But they look good and I just needed to figure out how your supposed to wear them but after that great purchase!

I had to return these shoes bc they were too narrow. I have a wide, but short foot. I did want to say that they are super cute and not tight at all. Most importantly, they are sturdy. I’m super plus sized and they held me with no trouble. If you don’t have a wide foot like and me and are debating rather to get them or not, DO IT!

I bought these for my Scaramouche cosplay and these were surprisingly comfortable and easy to walk around in.

The geta fit me perfectly, and I have feet of length 10.4 inches/26.5 centimeters. They seem to be sturdy enough to use regularly without concern for them breaking under me, and the finish on them is a cheap one, but not one that feels slick or uneven underfoot. Finish also doesn't look particularly poorly when in light or dark, it is relatively unnoticeable regardless, visually.It is important to note what purpose you are getting these for. They are not dancing shoes, running shoes, nor, as I found out, driving shoes. Obviously you wouldn't get geta if you were searching for "driving shoes." However, consider what you do in your "casual, everyday wear" shoes. Do you run around your house, workplace, etc, chasing after dogs, kids, coworkers? Do you enjoy dancing around your room to music as you clean? Do you frequently drive to ferry people from place to place? Well, then these might not be right for your everyday use.Given they're geta, they're quite easy to remove and replace with other shoes if you want to take up any of these activities: Keep a pair of slippers at the door to drive in, take them off to dance or run around the house in, and simply restrain yourself a bit out in public not to run in public, and these shoes will be fine.Questions I've gotten as I've worn these are:"Are they comfortable to walk in?" Yeah, somewhat. As comfortable as walking on hardwood. Is walking on hardwood more comfortable than walking on a cushioned shoe? Well, depends on the person, but I like it more. If you're a bit heavier weight, or if you've got bad joints or bad feet/ankles, then I'd bet you'd very much prefer the cushioned shoe."Is it hard to walk in them?" It definitely takes some getting used to. Walking in geta is not like walking in other shoes, you'll read everywhere. However, the biggest difference to me is the time *not* wearing them. If you are learning to wear geta, and then remove them to do something else, walking barefoot will feel weird as you keep up the movements. After a few days, though, like most muscle memory training activities, you'll be walking normally in both, with your brain switching how you walk to match what you're wearing."You can drive in those???" Yeah, I mean, just like any shoe. The stilts on the bottom of the shoe definitely make it a more specific angle and placement of your feet so you can use the pedals properly, but after a week of driving I've already found a good groove to wear them and drive with little difficulty. I don't drive regularly, so I'm fine with it. If I were to drive longer than 20-30 minutes at a time, though, I'd probably choose to wear different shoes or just do so barefoot, slipping them on and off as I enter and exit the car.Hopefully this helps you decide on things. As far as geta go, these feel like the right choice for "reasonably priced, reasonable quality geta." They aren't "Baby's first geta;" those would be shorter stilts and padded soles. They aren't "Cheapest geta possible;" but who wants cheap shoes when they're just going to tear up quicker? They aren't "Best quality geta.;" if you wanted "Best quality geta," though, you wouldn't be on Amazon, you'd be finding a company/merchant in Japan to purchase from. If you're looking for "Some reasonably sturdy, quality geta that will look decent, but also be a good deal financially" then this is your pair of geta.Three months later edit: The shoes work super well and getting used to them was fast enough that they now are a major part of my daily life. I will be making my own, though, to replace them. Today, 3 months and 2 days after they were delivered and I began using them, the soles and stilts are still firmly attached to each other. The thongs are still firmly in place and comfortable. They still look quite good from top and side and front and back. The bottoms are worn out heavily as wood scraped against concrete for months would look, but who's looking at the bottoms anyways? I would be thrilled to keep using these, however, the construction of these shoes means that once they've been sufficiently used, the nails holding the pegs together, embedded deeply though they once were, will eventually be pushed up through the sole and into your feet. There's plenty of time to react to this, and I was able to easily walk home and change shoes from a couple blocks away without so much as mild pain, just a bit of discomfort from the bulging wood. However, it does render the shoe unsalvageable, as you can't really remove the nail, nor replace the nail, nor can you still wear the shoes with the nails poking your feet. All in all, I do not for a moment regret my purchase, but would not find these to be a thing I'd buy repeatedly. I'm going to attempt to make my own, using wooden pegs instead of nails in order to help distribute the pressure through the attachment and make sure they hopefully don't poke through the sole.

Decent price and Shipped fast. They are more comfortable than I thought they’d be. It does take a little getting used to though. Survived a whole con in these on varying types of ground. Size fit well too

Very fun beautiful shoes.I bought it because I was interested to see how it feels to wear it. And it’s very interesting, and hard.However, it reminds me of a wooden shoes that I used to wear when I take showers when I was a kid, it’s it the same design but it’s similar.I like it; and it’s really good simple quality.The socks that comes with it though, is a bit tight and the side where all the last four fingers go, it’s tighter than what it should be.The wood was smelly, and I washed it before using because the fume was very strong.
