Too Many Pumpkins

We don’t celebrate Halloween. But we want something to read that’s festive and fun for the autumn season. This is perfect! It’s such a fun story with a heartwarming end. This is one that will be a classic!! Timeless. Beautiful illustrations. The kids loved it! Very entertaining. No mention of Halloween at all. It also has good science content (seeds growing) and pro-social skills. This copy of it is a good size and sturdy, quality pages and binding. I’m very pleased!! We read as a read aloud to the whole family. We have a 6 year old and a 2 year old. They both loved it! The 2 year old likes finding the cat on every page. The 6 year old liked lithe story’s plot. It’s one we will read for years to come. They won’t outgrow it anytime soon.

My daughter and I really enjoyed this story, and I look forward to pulling this out every autumn to read together. The story is so charming, a lady who detests pumpkins only to grow a field of them unknowingly. She manages to generously turn her unwanted pumpkins into all sorts of treats for her community around her. It’s a very good message about how sometimes the things in life we think we don’t like actually have meaning and value. There are sentiments of generosity, kindness, togetherness, supporting your neighbor, valuing farming, and learning how life can surprise us, and even change our minds. Such a good one, bravo to the author and illustrator!

My daughter is 4 and we read this for the first time last night. She smiled all the way through the end because she figured out the message of the book on her own. This is a great reading comprehension book with a lovely message.

A very cute story with a pumpkin theme and a lesson in thankfulness. I’m a retired elementary school teacher and I read this to my grandson’s class. They loved it.

This book is cute, great for fall and Halloween time. It was a little wordy for my 2.5 year old, the passages are long on each page and he had a hard time following the story but an older child would have a much easier time. The illustrations are cute, the art is very nice, and the story is fun. Overall happy with it but I would suggest it for older kids instead of younger ones.

Great story, very entertaining

This children's book was a family favourite for years, but when it finally fell to pieces from being read so many times, we had to throw it away. I was delighted to find the same edition at Amazon, and have added it back into our family library. Beautiful artwork, and delightful little story. I highly recommend it.

I've been reading this book every autumn with my two children since they were 3 and 1.They are now 12 and 9 and they still love it, as do I! The illustrations are beautifully detailed and the story is heart-warming, amusing and perfect for getting into a cosy, autumnal mood. Can't recommend this book highly enough!
