Amazon Brand - Solimo Therapeutic Dandruff Shampoo, Original Strength, 8.5 Fluid Ounce

I decided to try this shampoo because of the price and the fact that it actually contains coal tar, which in my experience, works great for dandruff and dry skin conditions. I will say that this is a great product and a fantastic value when compared to national brands. The shampoo has a medicinal scent, but that doesn't bother me. Lathers up nice, has a good tingly sensation and seems to work well at calming any itchy scalp issues and flakes. A great value for the money!

Don’t buy in winter... it freezes and leaks

I decided to try this shampoo because the brand I was previously using changed formulas and no longer worked for me. I went into this knowing that tar shampoos do not have a pleasant smell and this is no exception. It did not seem to linger for too long though after I styled my hair and used some other hair products on it. I have very sensitive skin on my scalp and it frequently becomes quite uncomfortable and irritated and this type of shampoo is the only thing I have found that helps it feel normal again. I am so happy to have found this Solimo shampoo because it worked quickly and the price is quite reasonable. My hair also felt very clean and manageable after using this product.

Because this product has an active ingredient for a specific function you might expect it to have a medicinal smell; well, it's far worse than medicinal! This shampoo actually stinks. I thought maybe the smell would dissipate after drying my hair but, no, it lingered all day and was especially strong every time I moved my head! To make matters worse, it didn't even work. I don't think it's returnable or I would send it back in an instant.

I am sure it works for some people but it hasn't done anything for me in the week I have had it with daily use. I dont have super flaky dandruff I have the kind that is caked on and itches terribly so It just doesn't work for me. Plus it smells awful. I just wanted to keep up with paraben free but it just isnt working for me.

I thought at this price point it would be too good to be true, but I was happily proved wrong. Works really well for itchy scalp at a fraction of the price I am used to. Will be buying this one again when I need more.

Not a fan of its fragrance

This Solimo Therapeutic Dandruff shampoo has kept my dandruff under control so far. I normally have only mild itching and it got rid of that as well. But some of the warnings on the bottle other than the normal ones about not getting it into the eyes seemed rather over-the-top, such as:“Use caution when exposing skin to sunlight after applying this product as it can increase risk of sunburn.Do not use for prolonged periods without consulting a doctor.Do not use with other forms of psoriasis therapy such as ultraviolet radiation or prescription drugs unless directed to do so by a doctor. There was an additional warning that in rare instances, discoloration of gray, blonde, bleached, or tinted hair may occur.” Since I have blond hair I probably would not have purchased it if I had seen it on the shelf of a store. (It didn’t alter the color of my hair.)I’ve never used a coal tar shampoo for Dandruff before but this did have a rather strong tar smell which reminded me of road repairs. There is also a mild scent to it that somewhat helps. It wasn’t strong enough to put me off. I did use one of my regular rinse out hair conditioners to finish up because I could tell from the feel of my wet hair after shampooing that it would be tangly and dry if I didn’t. As a result my hair looks very nice, clean and feels soft after using. It seem like a good product so far.
