Phenomenal quality for the price
We purchased the Hoover Windtunnel 3 Pro Pet Bagless Upright as a reluctant replacement for our long-since-extinct Dyson pet vacuum. We had been using a broom for months since most of our house was hardwood and tile, but sweeping carpet was very time-consuming!EFFECTIVENESSThese filters appear to work very well in capturing particles of small size in accordance with HEPA standards (99.97% of particles up to 0.3 microns in diameter--note that the product description is missing decimal points). This is helpful particularly if you are suffering from allergies in your home such as allergies to mold. I was doubly impressed with the filter because (unfortunately, eventually) it grew mold in it--but the mold was growing only on the intake side of the filter. It seems that the spores were not able to penetrate through the filter media in order to create more mold on the outlet side. Regardless, I don't intend to continue using a filter that has begun to grow mold and searched for replacements--see my other reviews... With regards to cleaning the filter, here is the matter in which you must be very careful: the filter can be cleaned using water but must be very thoroughly dried. If they are not thoroughly dried within a day or two (and before reinserting it into your vacuum), you will supply the conditions necessary for mold to grow. With respect to cleaning effectiveness, we were pleasantly pleased with how well it worked! We have a Labrador retriever at home who sheds so much that we say we could make a Lab puppy every time we sweep. We had started pet ownership with a Dyson pet vacuum and were extremely frustrated with how much hair was left behind every time we swept, so we eventually resorted to an old-fashioned broom. The Hoover vacuum has been extremely efficient and has since replaced that.EASE OF USEThe vacuum is lightweight enough that a young woman can definitely carry it up and down stairs (unfortunately, I cannot speak to elder consumers). It rolls rather smoothly, which is particularly important in a home with allergies as haphazard jerking patterns can potentially stir up allergens and release them into the air.ATTACHMENTSThe attachments are also useful, although I didn't appreciate them fully until this weekend. I used to only use the hose to reach cobwebs and clean corners and stairs whilst neglecting the crevice and upholstery tools as rather annoying; I didn't even notice the mini vacuum attachment! Then I realized that the Forte of the crevice tool is along your baseboard where the vacuum doesn't reach...and the toe board of your stairs where the mini vacuum won't reach either. The upholstery tool will surely frustrate you cleaning a firm surface but it is amazing for cleaning dog hair off the bed. Use it where the fabric would get sucked into the hose - that is why it has a plastic guard and the resulting reduced suction power. When I realized this, it became a very awesome attachment. As for the third attachment, it is effectively a mini handheld sweeper...no more weak handheld vacuums for the stairs. Combined with the crevice tool, my stairs finally look like I don't have a dog. To know all of this goes through the HEPA filter- the only way this could be better was if the dog didn't bark at the vacuum!PRICEThe price of the Hoover Windtunnel was quite suitable to our budget, especially with the surprisingly good quality outlined above.I hope these insights are beneficial to you in your shopping and help you to make your decision!

Great at sucking!
Oh man, do I love this vacuum! Our apartment has nearly wall to wall carpet, which is not ideal. We also have one short hair kitty who sheds moderately. We had a crappy old Dirt Devil hand me down that was not doing the job so we ordered this. And I am so glad we did!As soon as it arrived it put it together, which was super easy, and immediately started vacuuming our dining room. So, I am kind of a neat freak and our apartment is not dirty at all. This vacuum both horrified and elated me as it sucked a disgusting amount of dust and dirt out of our carpet. I was loving the clear canister as it allowed me to see the filth that is no longer festering under our feet. I filled that baby right up when I proceeded to vacuum the entire house. Even took a photo of all the dirt before I emptied it and sent it to the boyfriend (he accepts and loves my weirdness).Quick break down of the pros and cons:PROS:- Easy set up - VERY effective - Canister is simple and not messy to empty- Easy to switch from carpet to bare floor - Cord is plenty long - Maneuvers easily and isn't very heavy- Get a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment watching the dirt fill up as you vacuum!CONS:- Spinning brush pet attachment is a little flimsy and powered only by suction so if you press down on the surface you're trying to vacuum, it slows down, or stops the spinning (depending on how hard you press).- The attachment with three rubber things is great for brushing animal fur into giant clumps, but not the best at sucking it up. I just popped the attachment off and used the hose when needed, which worked great.Overall, I would recommend this vacuum for anyone who has a lot of carpet (it's good on bare floors too). My carpets actually LOOK cleaner. When the boyfriend came home from work the first day I used it he asked if I had the carpets cleaned. "Nope babe! Our new vacuum is just great at sucking!"
