The Royal Collection of Faberge Animals
Gorgeous hardback showing the Royal Collection of Faberge animals, this book shows the story of the renown Faberge Sandringham Farmyard commisioned originally by H.M.King Edward VII for H.M.Queen Alexandria, and added to over succesive years by members of visiting Royal Houses and houseguests seeking to give original Objects D'Art to the Royal Couple. The farmyard is made by carving rare hardstone, obsidian and precious stones into the most stunning designs, and finishing the detailing with enamel, precious stones for eyes and cast gold for the feet.If you like Faberge, and think his workshop was a place of genius you will love this book.It also gives a glimpse inside Sandringham, and shows us where the collection was displayed... 'proudly lit every evening by electric light' and shows how the collection grew over the years to include such things as the cockeral shown on the books cover, and even farmyard rats and mice. This is published by the Royal Collection and is in my opinion the authoritive guide on the Sandringham Farmyard, and an important reference book for all of us interested by Faberge and his genius.Very highly recomended.

Amazing miniature animals models.
A fascinating look at a little known part of Faberge's work. Even though these are not as spectacular as the Easter Eggs the fine detail is still there along with the luxury touches such as gold feet.

Specialist book
Some lovely pictures and detail in this book. I particularly like references to the cost of the minatues when purchased, real eye opener! Also contains old pictures of Royalty, a great treat.

Faberges Animals
A beautifully presented book which gives an account of the Faberge animals which are now in the Royal Collection which were modelled from animals on the Royal estate.

Nice book
Nice book. Not jaw dropping, but lovely pics of the objects and a reasonable amount of history, sufficient for the non-expert.

Delicious scholarship
A book that hits the spot for Faberge devotees - well, this one at least. The illustrations of Faberge's hardstone animals are as close to perfect as even a perfectionist would want. The text is scholarly and informative without being academic. And the doormouse is to die for!
