A beautiful tale that will keep you enraptured!
This story has everything I could ever wish for in a historical romance. Fabulous characters, a healthy dose of history and a storyline that held me captive. I love Jenni's opening foreword, getting an insight into the history of Whitby and the brave men that hopped aboard lifeboats risking their lives to save others. Her passion for the era really does shine through the pages.Ianthe is a wonderful heroine, intelligent, caring and feisty. She gives as good as she gets and the meet-cute demonstrates this from the off. The banter (not just between the hero/heroine, but with the secondary characters too e.g. Ianthe's brother) is lively and entertaining! I also confess to being utterly smitten with Robert! From the second his eyes meet hers on the train carriage, I started getting little flutters right along with Ianthe.I'm not going to delve into the plot because spoilers! Instead, I'm just going to say, if you love historical romance with a healthy dose of drama, snap this up, you won't regret it. 78% in and I was a wrung-out mess, hit the end and I confess to a little cry.

Couldn't put it down and didn’t want it to end!
I've always been a suckered for a Victorian romance (the top hats, the tail coats, the tight trousers....) and this didn't disappoint.A gloriously romantic tale full of carefully researched historical detail (the storyline at the Whitby shipyards was fascinating) with a dark backstory, a hero to fall in love with and a heroine to root for.Couldn't put it down & didn't want it to end!

Warm & comforting, it will make you want to dive into your kindle! :)
After reading 'The Convenient Felstone Marriage,' I now have a new way of measuring how much I loved a book and that is, how quickly I jump off my couch to switch on my computer and write my review. In the case of this story it was, oh about 0.2 seconds!!! Now I'm sat here I have all these thoughts scrambling for attention in my head and I don't know how to get them down quick enough. I will just start by saying this, I felt like I was wrapped in a warm hug from the start to the end of this book. I absolutely adored it!Just to clarify how much I adored it, the last few chapters had me pausing to literally kick my legs in a happy little jig, you know the one you do, when you just can't contain your excitement? I wanted to hug my kindle and never let it go. This story just had everything!Ianthe Holt is on a train heading into an uncertain future. Her brother has just informed her that, as well as visiting their Auntie, Ianthe is to meet and interview with the one person she can't stand to be in a room with, Sir Charles Lester. Ianthe already doesn't like that her brother has been spending more time with the man and now he's talking about her marrying him! She can't think of anything worse.Robert Felstone is also on the train looking at an uncertain future. He was just declined by the woman he thought would make a suitable wife, which means he has less of a chance at securing a shipyard that would help him finally become a respected man in society. The only thing he really wants. After a rather ungentlemanly introduction and a few heated words between the two of them, Mr Felstone and Miss Holt find themselves in an agreement, one they aren't both entirely sure what to make of. Will Ianthe be able to let go of the past and allow herself to be the person she wants to be and will Robert Felstone become capable of something he always thought he wasn't - Love?Oh I can't urge you enough to pick up a copy of this book to find out the answers!!!Sometimes I feel like books are very similar to people. In the sense that we can meet people for the first time and feel like we have known them forever. This story felt like that to me. I instantly felt like I knew these characters and that I already had a huge connection to them, after only reading a couple of paragraphs. I felt every emotion going reading their stories. From protectiveness to fear, to happiness, sympathy and anger. It was a roller-coaster ride for sure.Ianthe is a strong, determined woman, who fears that her shameful past will catch up with her. I felt for her so much that she carried such a burden. To think that in those days, women were to be so prim and proper and were looked at in disgrace, if they so much as looked at a man in a certain way, is quite astonishing. Feeling every bit of angst or worry from Ianthe only made me realize just how much time has changed since the 1900's. Ianthe was wonderful, she was clever and brave and I wanted her to be the person she had locked away and be truly happy again. I felt very protective of her straight away and could have dived into my kindle to keep her safe from Charles Lester. He made my blood boil. Thankfully she had Robert Felstone to look after her. May I get one of him too please?? *Sigh* He was dashing! I loved how he got himself into a rut with Ianthe by telling her he needed someone respectable, I found myself quietly laughing at the situations he got himself in to because of that. The whole relationship between him and Ianthe was perfect and I don't mean that their story was perfect, I just mean them together. The way they were written and the way their story played out, it was just perfection.I loved every shock, every dip, every turn, every dance, every interaction, every conversation, every shy smile, every flirtatious smile, I loved it all. Robert and Ianthe are my new favourite people and I very much could have climbed into my kindle to visit them.Thank you Jenni Fletcher for getting in touch with us, I do so hope that this review does your marvelous book justice.

Delightful, gripping and wonderfully written!
Our heroine, Ianthe Holt, in the words of our hero, Robert Felstone, "...she was... he strove for a word... interesting..." And interesting she was. Dowdy and dull in appearance, but her spirit crackled with fire and wit from the get go! Ianthe, "..She'd given as good as she got, had a mind of her own and no fear of speaking it."Who knew shipping magnates could be so... "She had no idea he was so...solid." Robert Felstone is a solid character, complex, loyal and with unspoken depths that are revealed at the hand of Ianthe. Both Robert and Ianthe are torn by mistakes of the past, they have both shaped and molded their lives to be what they think society accepts. But together they realise, that truly it only matters what, you and yours, think and I agree wholeheartedly!A marriage of convenience set to take you through the gentle awakenings of love whilst throwing you into the depths of obsession and the ugliness it can entail. Delightful and gripping, wonderfully written. 4.5/5 stars from me. A highly recommended read.I Recieved an ARC in return for an honest review. #MillsandBoonInsiders

A beautiful and moving tale about finding love where it is least expected.
I'm going to start by saying I loved this book and I may have just fallen in love with Robert myself! *Sighs*Our hero is such a perfect character because of his flaws. He didn't fit in and was an outcast and that made him all the more charming and loveable. He cares and loves but doesn't fully understand either emotion. It is really heartwarming to see how he progresses throughout the book. Our heroine is very headstrong, she has a past and wants to move past that. Her desperate attempts to distance herself from this ultimately leads to their marriage of convenience. I really loved their scenes together, though I don't think there were enough! This book has a host of delightful secondary characters that I enjoyed reading about.Overall I really loved this book because of how different it was from others of this genre. It was nice to step back from the London/ballroom every scene setting, and get out onto the rugged coast.Jenni Fletcher has a reader in me for life.
