Parts are in tolerance and in a nice book to keep organized

I do a lot of electronics repair for myself, friends and family so it makes life much easier when I have a really large selection of components on hand. It means I don't have to order parts and wait for them to show up, or pay $9.95 in shipping for $0.35 worth of SMD passives. While this kit covers just about any value of resistor you might need for doing repairs, it's also made up of the most common size (1206) and even when you need a slightly smaller resistor you can usually squeeze one of these into the space available even if it means having to tombstone it and use a little jumper wire.The resistors are well organized and clearly labeled. I haven't gone through every single value but of the 15 or so pieces I've used so far, the labeled value on the page matched the resistors it contained. I've had books of components like this before where they put the wrong value component in many of the sleeves, thankfully that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Holy moley, this is a lot of resistors. I've found that it's really easy to lose one of these smd devices because they are so small, and I didn't want to be in the middle of a project and discover one of the resistors had mysteriously disappeared. This is probably overkill, but I think I'm covered if it does happen. I previously purchased some smd capacitors (for the same reason) but they just came in separate strips. This package have sheets of resistor strips labelled and stored in a small binder. Easy to store away until I need it, and easy to find the resistor I might need.

I've been dragging my feet on entering the SMD world, and I'm still a bit nervous about it, but I've read that 0805 is a good compromise between "fits on modern board designs" and "visible to the naked eye", and now I should be COMPLETELY set for resistors in this form factor.I spot-checked a number of units from several of these strips using needle probes. They all tested within tolerance.I'm happy to have these, and I highly recommend them.

Well, it is a lifetime supply of resistors. This kit is by no means economical, you can get more resistors for less, but it is convenient. Also, resistors have 1% tolerance and they are claimed to be Yageo FR-07, which is a quality part.Beware that you should open the book as carefully as you would open a pack of loose glitter. I am guessing the packaging process involves martial artists hacking tape reels with katana swords. Some resistors come cut in half, some fall out of the tape, so there is plenty of lose resistors and their parts in the box. You'll end up vacuuming your room if you're not careful. Outside of packaging, I am satisfied with the product.

15-20 years ago, if you bought an assortment of SMT resistors it probably came from a company a few blocks away from me. I've still got some of their binders but the big assortments could get staggeringly expensive.This set isn't as large as those, but it's thorough and has a useful number of each value. These assortments are a lifesaver. I do a lot of SMT prototyping and despite my best efforts it seems like there's always some resistor I forgot to order.
