Kala KA-ASAC-T8 Solid Acacia Tenor 8-String Ukulele

I love the full sound this Kala 8-string ukulele produces. It’s almost like playing 2 ukes at a time. It’s a beautiful instrument that appears well made. I prefer the satin finish too. It’s a handsome looking uke. Even though I thought it was a little too expensive, I was excited to get it. It does take some time to get it to stay in tune, but that’s normal. I played it for an hour show I did on Bob Warner YouTube just recently on Dec. 29. There were 2 other things I noticed about it compared to my 4 string ukes: it’s a little rougher on my fretting fingers (but it’s double the strings so each finger depresses 2 strings at a time) and it’s a little more difficult for me to find my starting note to sing,. I have to listen much closer. It’s seems to be more of a chording instrument rather than picking...I've not tried much picking with it. I do love the full sound it produces! The available options for sets of 8 strings are limited also. All in all, I’m glad I bought it.

I play early music (Renaissance mostly) on the uke. The problem with that is the rapid decay of cords, etc.. Also, the overall sound is never quite right. But this uke really fills my needs. The two octave g and c strings give a wonderful set of overtones to chords. Somehow the double strings interact and extend the chords for about 50% longer than on a four string. The result is a richer, moe complex sound. However, be warned. It doesn't play the same way a four string does. Finger placement of the fretting hand is critical to the sound. And you are no longer plucking single strings. It may take a while to the sounds right. But it is well worth it.

Amazing ukulele! I love the mellow sound and the resonance can't be beat. This is my upgrade 8-string and I am as impressed by the playability as I am by its looks. Intonation is perfect and the action is low enough that I can now play the tunes that have previously given me trouble :)

Perfectly set up out of the box. Sound and feel are amazing. Second item purchased from this wonderful company. I have played a 12 string guitar for many years and I've had no trouble converting to the feel of an 8 stringed instrument. Now I just need to learn the chords and that will take some time.

I would absolutely recommend this ukulele to any mhsician regardless of skill level. Playing this instrument is so fun and entertaining!

I'm really please with this uke. I mostly play mandolin and a little guitar, but I was asked to join a ukulele group, and needed to upgrade my cheapo 4 string uke. This 8 string has such a wonderful, rich sound, and I find it makes a great base for playing with other ukes. It's a beautifully made instrument, and is well worth the money.
