J.S. Bach: Suites for Cello (Arr. Lafosse for Tenor Trombone)
A**N
Good for an advanced student
Good study material. Not all the suites transcribe well for trombone but they are great for practicing in tenor and bass clef as well as some of the less common keys

Poor Quality, oddly transcribed and only 4 of the 6 suites
If you don't need this specific edition for an exam then don't get it get the Cello originals instead. The printed quality of this is of photocopy quality with printer level paper so you can't easily read some of the directions. The author has transcribed the pieces to avoid the low registers so that the Tenor clef is necessary and the tonal quality is lost. Because of the transcription the transcriber then feels that they have to drop an octave meaning that the finale of pieces is lost altogether. For example the First cello suite is no longer in G Major but rather in C Major so the finale of the prelude would be hitting G4 but transcribed should be hitting C5. As such the transcriber has dropped the run in the finale down an octave part way through so the build up to the end sounds flat as you rise higher and higher then mid way give up and continue an octave lower. Finally there are only 4 cello suites in this edition with them packed in to save space .
