Made easy work of replacing doors and jambs.
I've used it in three so far. Building new jambs for existing doors and new doors for existing jambs.. It works well. The cutouts a a hair bigger than the hinges but it's not a bad thing. I match new to old, draw around the hinges with a sharp pencil and clamp the jig on and go. It's easy to use after you figure out what the pieces are for. There are good instructions.

Does doors and jambs
Great product for DIY homeowner. Adjustable to accomodate multiple common hinge sizes. Rubber clamps hold jig tightly in place without having to damage object with nails, although jig does have nail holes to allow for better stability during use. Can be used on jamb uprights only if door stops are not installed or present. Jig also has patterns for a couple of common door striker and latch plate. Excellent hard plastic, not very flexible at all (if you don't really crank down hard on the screw clamps). I also found a way to use this jig to countersunk rectangle for a non-standard sized vintage latch plate, by routing out most of it and then moving the jig to finish the size I need.Very handy jig! It comes with a router bit equipped with a standoff bearing. Be careful lowering or raising the router in and out of the jig while it is running as you can catch the router blade in the plastic walls of the jig and damage them. I searched a while before I decided to purchase a hinge mount jig, and I am very glad I chose this one.

Amazing Product Can't beat the price.
Amazing product works great and easy set up.Can't beat the cost, if you were to buy the router bit that comes with ityou would spend more than the amount for the whole unit.

The whole system is well designed, but the flexible plastic body presents problems.
I used tis jig in combination with Milescraft's model1338 "Lock Mate PLUS" (reviewed separately) to install a new solid wood entry door. Usually I have nothing but praise for "Milescraft" products, but these both fell short of their usual high standards. This jig can produce all of the mortises for standard hinges, strike plates and lock sets with the "Lock Mate" jig producing the face and edge borings for standard lock sets. This jig will even allow hinge mortising of an already installed jamb with only stop and casing removal needed on the appropriate edges. even better, all accessories store on board, including my Milescraft corner chisel (sold separately). The only shortcoming is the plastic main body. When clamped to a door, it flexes and distorts. All mortises on a door should reference to the in-swinging face or the center of the locking edge. When clamped tightly enough to stay firmly in place while routing, the jig distorted enough to make me uncertain that the template location was still correct. Most other jigs I've used for this purpose are held in position by nails (or screws) which leave holes that need later patching. The exception, a jig which I used for the second and third hinge mortises on this door, is a clamp-on jig somewhat similar to this one, but good only for the door hinges, not the jamb nor any of the other mortises. My ideal would be this jig, but made with a rigid aluminum or steel body. This jig works well, and I will continue to use it for everything but the actual door hinge mortises, but it will require a lot of fussy care to assure that the locations are exactly right in clamping situations..

Better designed and made than the competition
Nice hinge jig. It's plastic, but solid enough to clamp firmly onto a door to make quick work of routing hinge recesses. Like most Milescraft tools/jigs this one is well designed and made. I bought this to replace a Ryobi hinge jig because this one has two clamping screws, doesn't lift off the door when you clamp it down, and doesn't mar the door (like the single center clamping screw on the Ryobi does). A bonus with this one is the included strike and latch plate templates. I haven't tried these yet, but it seems like a big improvement over chiseling them out. I'm not a professional carpenter, but happy to have this in my kit for whenever replacing a door.

Wonderfully simple to use.
There is a little learning curve, overall very nice. Set up and had the door done quite quickly. If you have a hinge that you drive the pin out of, you might be able to slip it in like I did to verify spot for cutting/pre-drilling screw holes. I really recommend predrilling holes in case you need to plane/trim the door down after cutting hinge slots.
