Intaglio: The Complete Safety-First System for Creative Printmaking

This is a great book to follow while in the act of creating a intaglio art print because it describes the processes in phenomenal detail. If you are looking for a more general overview, however, discovering the wood amid the trees is something of an epic venture.

During my fd in fine art I have an allowance for books and went crazy buying any art book that took my fancy. I really enjoyed reading this book and it'll alway have a spot on my shelf.

I’ m in the early stages of exploring intaglio printing so I am not really qualified to make a definitive review. However this book has explained a lot about modern methods which do not appear in the classic treatises. I’m sure it will guide me through my explorations. Had I been experienced and able to give a more critical review I might well have given it five stars. Typographically it is excellent with great colour illustrations and is easy to read.

This is a really useful text book of intaglio printing. It covers all types of intaglio and explains all the techniques clearly, accompanied by examples of each technique.

Good explanations on processes which I struggled with in other publications and I would recommend it to anyone interested in printing.

Excellent and informative

I am fairly advanced in printmaking and was disappointed with the content. It does nothing to inspire creativity in the reader but perhaps that wasn't the object. It's quite technical in its approach but with some patience you can plod your way through the various techniques, but a beginner to intaglio printing would find it hard going to grasp most of it. The photos are largely irrelevant and don't show the reader any step-by-step progression of the various techniques. I agree with one of the other reviews that the safety aspect all gets a bit tiresome, for instance I don't need to be told that I need to wash my hands after being in contact with chemicals or ink, or indeed how to make a useful tool holder from a plant pot.

For anyone who has a focus on Intaglio printing this is an excellent book. Reviews the various Intaglio printing procedures. The materials needed, how to set up your work area. I am still reading the book. For anyone getting into print making this is a masterful book which focuses on printing without harsh chemicals.

Llego en tiempo y forma!... el libro se ve que tiene información muy interesante sobre grabado, pero necesita saber uno algo de la materia para poder seguir solo instrucciones como si fuera receta de cocina!... hay muchos factores dentro del grabado que requieren de apoyo en imágenes para poderlos entender mejor. Lástima porque hubiera sido un gran documento si estuviera mas ilustrado.
