Very bad instructions, nothing is clear on who to set it up don’t buy it look for something else.

I had to purchase these because Epson discontinued the LQ-590 line and this was a similar replacement. The printhead is 9-pin as opposed to the 24-pin in the 590, which does come in to play on fine printing and small fonts. Also the printable area on this printer is not the same as the 590 (it's smaller, even on continuous paper) so I had to change the invoice paper for my company. So far there hasn't been any reliability issues and we printer approximately 50 3-ply invoices on it daily. Last note and the reason a star is knocked off - the driver version on this is ESC/P version 1, not version 2 like the 590 and several other dot matrix printers from Epson. If you print images on your 3-ply you may have some issues on version 1.

Ordered this for our laser metal cutting machine as a replacement for the Microline 420. Which it claims to replace. Could not get to print correctly on labels. Called Customer Service for Epson and they said they do not support using this as replacement for Microline even though it is in their user's manual and advertised on their site. Returned and they refunded $59.62 less than I paid. No mention of charging restocking fee or anything for return. Considering I paid $52.63 shipping! Will never order an Epson again.
