Kidde Smoke Detector, 10-Year Battery Powered, LED Warning Light Indicators

This is an excellent product. The benefit of it is it’s a 10 year battery and it was easy instructions easy to work to get on the ceiling. I use the existing holes in the ceiling so I didn’t have to do much of anything other than replaced the unit on my old Mail unit died so this is a perfect replacement. I would recommend getting it.

I bought this smoke alarm mainly because I wanted something low-maintenance, and the 10-year battery was a big selling point. Installation was quick and straightforward it only took a few minutes and came with everything I needed. What I like most is not having to worry about changing batteries all the time. It’s one of those things you install and forget about, but still feel safer knowing it’s there. The alarm itself is loud enough to definitely get your attention, which is exactly what you want in an emergency. The design is pretty basic and doesn’t stand out too much, which I actually prefer. It blends in well with the ceiling and doesn’t look bulky. So far, it’s been working exactly as expected with no issues. Overall, it does what it’s supposed to do without any hassle, and that’s really all I was looking for.

Don't order the 10 year battery unit! Get a unit with removable batteries. The concept of a 10 year battery seemed great when ordered. I hate having to remember to change the 9 volt battery every year and this product would avoid that. I installed this in my daughter's bedroom in Feb 2026 and in the middle of the night in July 2026 it started going off at 2 am. I tried to silence it by pressing the reset button and it alarmed a minute later. I tried blowing out the unit and resetting, but the 85 dB alarm continued. I tried a hard reset by holding it down for 30 seconds and still the alarm kept going off. At this point everyone in the house was upset (Just make it stop mom!) so I took out the screwdriver and "permanently disabled" the unit. If it was battery powered I could have removed the battery myself. The manufacturer is sending me a replacement unit, but they were very clear I should have called and troubleshot the problem (at 2 am???) with them rather than permanently disabling the unit which was disappointing to hear.

Ordered these because 2 of my smoke detectors were disposable. The one is in my hallway outside of kitchen. So far, so good. Cooked a few meals and didn't trigger an false alarm. Especially when using my ninja oven, it gets a little steamy in my kitchen when using this, even with my window and door cracked open.
