In Windows 11, the default Microsoft Camera app sees this camera the moment it's plugged in and exposes all of the camera's settings via its interface. Positives: -No drivers required for Windows, Android, or even Raspberry Pi. I tested all 3 and no setup was required, at all, just launch a camera app and you get video. -8000x6000 max resolution. -Whilst I do not have color measurement tools, the pictures and video I took look pretty accurate from a layman's eye. -No noticeable input lag in video mode via a USB 3.0 port. I didn't test on USB 2.0. Considerations: -The heatsink gets rather warm when using higher resolutions, and especially on the 8000x6000 setting. If out in the open, it's unlikely to be an issue, but in a warm setting or enclosure, you're likely going to need a fan. -Whilst the Windows Camera app allows for good control, if you want the best possible control over the camera, you may want to look for a more complex app. Nitpicking: -I'd like to have seen mounting points included or built into the simple case. Thankfully, you can unscrew the case and add a loop for mounting. Overall: -This is a fantastic little camera for anything from just messing around with, building out a security system, to using with a laser cutter. I attached the camera to the top of the enclosure of my laser cutter using a custom 3D-printed bracket. The high 8000x6000 resolution along with the focus free 100 degree field of view lens make it perfect for the job. It is such a huge improvement for the processing of multiple items and positioning, as well as safe monitoring of the cutting or engraving process. One small LED light was the only illumination necessary. A great addition to my laser cutting system! Recommended.

I spent about 2 hours playing with this camera and have to say at the price point it's on the pricier side but quality wise it's not bad at all. First thing to point out the highest framerate in video recording or just viewing is 3840 x 2160. Other resolutions higher will start to cause the framerate to drop to near 10fps. Higher resolutions do provide higher resolution and pixels but at a sacrifice at heat and lag. This thing really heats up, I would highly recommend against putting this into a tight enclosure with no airflow. Most likely it will overheat and kill itself. At 8000 x 6000 it is too hot to touch the mini heat sink. I included very low light with exposure set to max, while it's grainy it looks really good for what it is and its size. Next is a video of it recording at 8000 x 6000 as you can see the noticeable lag. Couldn't record a 2nd video but have to say 3840x2160 looks super clear and very good fps. There is no focus or zooming on this camera and the effect distance starts at around 8 inches from the camera where anything closer would need a different lens. The description for this listing also says it comes with a 2M/9ft usb cable which is absolutely false. It comes with a 2ft USB cable with a USB-A. Night quality for this size of a camera is excellent, the features on this camera are excellent, I'm not a fan of the price because I'm not fully convinced it's better than the camera of an iPhone 15 for example and I can purchase a replacement OEM part for half that price and attach a DIY board to run it but the cost would get close to the same with just better quality. But if you're not tech savvy and looking something that works right out of the box with no configuration really needed this is it, look no further. I would've loved to try other lens as the current lens appears to be attached by a micro sized Phillip head screw near the bottom of camera unit. Price vs Quality vs Accessories I feel the price is a bit bloated for such a bare unit with no additional lens or accessories. But for quality it definitely pairs with top of the class.

There's not much good to say about this unit, especially for the crazy price they are asking for it. A quick punch list of bad things: - The board is poorly designed for thermal management, and this thing gets *hot*. At any of the higher framerate/resolution modes, it absolutely cooks. The heatsink does very little to help, as the entire board is only marginally cooler. In open air, it may last, but in an enclosure, you're going to need to need a fan. - Picture quality is abysmal. Low-light is especially bad. That's to be expected with these tiny cell-phone cameras that have pushed the "megapixels" too far -- the individual sensors are just too small. - Image processing is ... weird. Color balance is off, there's some really weird sharpening. Given how hot the board gets, it has got to be doing some kind of processing, its just doing a bad job of it. - The board is unreliable at high bitrates. The controller chip freezes up fairly often if you're pulling high-resolution stills off it too quickly. Its fine at resolutions less than 4MP, give or take. I think they're trying to sell this to people to add to their 3D printers and laser scanners, hoping people see the big "MP" number and don't really understand what they're getting or what they need. For monitoring your printer, it'll work fine. But a $20 USB camera will to just as good a job. Its hard to justify this pricing when you can get a properly engineered camera with dramatically better image quality for that price if you're trying to take good pictures/video, and you can get a dirt cheap one if you are just looking to monitor something.

I use the ELP 48mp USB camera on my Bambu Labs P1S 3d printer. The camera that comes with the printer is not adequate for watching and has a tremendous amount of lag. The ELP offers 8000x6000 fantastic picture quality. I have it plugged into a USB 3.0 port on my desktop, and I can remote into it or watch it as I’m working. I am playing with software to see if I can use the camera as an observation device. I will first need to design and print a cover for the camera and a way to keep it cool.

This camera is amazing! The picture quality is out of this world. And it worked straight out of the box. No special tweaks or drivers. The only thing you need to make is a mount. But the mounting points are very easy to match up, and if you have a 3D printer, you can knock one out pretty quickly.

big camera performance from a small package, using this with a few different projects of mine and switching it around, it has a fantastic picture, i had planned to try and use this as an all sky camera but so far none of the programs seem to see the camera, till then though i use it for a bunch of different uses,

I rate this 48MP USB camera module as 3.5 (rounding up to 4) stars because it’s a capable piece of hardware with impressive specs. The 48MP resolution offers excellent clarity and detail capture, allowing me to zoom in on specific things or monitor the area with greater precision than anything I have now.
