Bosch AXT Rapid 2200 Shredder (for Powerful Shredding of Garden Debris; Powerful 2200W Motor)

Having previously owned a Bosch AXT Rapid 2200 for more than 15 years which developed a fault with the rotary switch. I decided to buy a new replacement - purchasing from Amazon was a good choice in terms price and delivery. The Bosch shredder comes with a 3 year warranty when registered. This shredder was easy to assemble and the performance is exceptional in use and converted garden waste - branches/shrubs/leaves, into wood chips and mulch very easily. Branches about 20mm in diameter was chopped up with ease. The feeder hopper is a perfect size. The shredder is an ideal weight to move around the garden, acceptable noise level and is powerful enough to complete garden clearance jobs. Bosch is a quality product and is highly recommended - this shredder goes with my other Bosch DIY and Garden equipment.

Bought from a well known hardware chain in the UK based on what now appears to be seriously dubious 5 star reviews. I have tried this machine on various items such as Beech hedge clippings ranging from small diameter clippings all the way up to say 20 mm diameter branches.The machine cannot cope with anything, leaves pass straight through and longer thin braches either pass straight through more often than not they simply choke the blade exit and the machine ends up smoking and requires de-blocking. Soft stemmed items such as raspberry canes are simply crushed rather than chopped. I have replaced the blade and even tried grinding a knife edge on both sides of the blade. I am at a loss as to how this machine ever passed muster and consider it not fit for purpose .

My goodness.... how to make light work of small branches etc.Powerful tool.Very satisfying too!!!I chipped up a load of Bamboo as mine had grown to over 30 feet so have to cut the top off!!!Thoroughly recommend this machine.

Very good well made makes garding easy

It works as expected. I am having trouble with larger circumference items, so I’m not sure it works well at the highest level that it advertises. It gets blocked quite often.

Superb tool. Powerful, easily portable and effective. Great for hedge clippings and will do branches up to 40mm, although I limit it to about 25mm. Not too noisy, good build quality, easy to clean. Useful prodder to help load the waste. A great buy.

I bought a Bosch shredder more than 20 years ago and I have just had to replace it. I bought this on expecting a similar experience. How disappointed I was. The first Bosch used the corkscrew metho to shred. I could put material in it and it would pull it through automatically whilst I selected the next piece to shred. The new machine uses a rotating blades which require material to be constantly pushed through. Larger pieces of wood tend to rattle around without getting shredded or sliced. This machine is badly designed and is not a patch on the earlier model. Leaves do not get shredded and tend to block the machine up. Because it needs constant attention, its more time consuming. It can struggle with 40mm branches too. It tend to be very noisy too, especially when the ends of branches rattle around the cutting area. I am seriously considering returning this machine as it doesn't do what its claimed to do. Not recommended at all.

Annihilates whatever you can stuff down it's feeder slots. Unreal. Makes mincemeat out of it, very fine chips which will readily compost I'd say. Very, very impressed. Easy access to the blades, easy to assemble, easy to operate. New favourite toy.
