Always liked this classic spaghetti Western since I was young. Great story with great music. The only bad point about this more recent edition of this movie is that some extra scenes have been added that were not included in original edit. Because Lee Van Cleef died before the addition of these additional scenes another actor has been used to dub his voice into the newly added scenes which is okay as its hard to tell the voice over from that of Lee Van Cleef's real voice. However Eli Wallach and Clint Eastwood have made their own character's voice overs themselves and because both actors at the time of making the voice overs had aged considerably their voices have aged considerably,(happens to us all) and their older voice dubs do not match the rest of film.These extra added scenes could better not have not been included in this version or at least other at actors could have been employed to mimic Clint and Eli's younger voices.Still a great version to watch though.

Works well

A genuine classic movie. Great performances between the three leads: Eastwood, Van Cleef & Wallach. Some very good set piece action scenes including a famous duel in a graveyard and of course the music score.

I bought this 4K UHD from the Amazon US and can confirm the region free 4K UHD worked as expected in my UK player. I haven’t tried the region locked blu-ray and I don’t expect it to work. I suspect most people that buy this version are looking to upgrade from the previous disappointing versions anyway. A previous reviewer mentioned the disk was noisy when being played. Mine is whisper quiet, so no issues there.It arrived from the US in a week, which was several days earlier than expected. The VAT was paid at the point of sale by Amazon and no other taxes were requested.I gave 4 stars because although the picture has been greatly improved it is not close to reference material. Considering the issues with the previous blu-rays, this restoration is a great leap in video quality and the DTS 5.1 audio is decent also. There doesn’t appear to be a UK release or any other versions on the horizon, so this looks by far the best option at least for the foreseeable future.PS the film is brilliant but you already know that!

Review of the 2023 Kino Lorber Blu-ray edition of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. A true classic! This is the 162 minute (2 hours 42 minute) US theatrical cut. The disc DOES NOT include the longer 2 hour 59 minute European premiere version or the scenes trimmed from that version.First of all, this movie has never looked as good as it does on this disc. The colors are great and natural looking, while the picture looks amazingly sharp for a film first released in 1966. Grain is still present, but it looks natural and not overwhelming.Audio includes English 5.1 and English mono. Subtitles are in English only. The previous 2003 MGM DVD version had an Italian mono track and various additional subtitles, but they’re not on this disc.Extras - Contains all the extras that were on the 2003 MGM DVD, plus a lot more. More trailers, radio spots, a gallery of on-set images, and many more posters & lobby cards in the promotion gallery.There are a couple extra deleted scenes here, but it would’ve been great if they included all the scenes that were trimmed from the longer version of the film. It’s a shame they’re missing as some can still be glimpsed in the “Reconstructing The GBU” featurette.Overall, this seems to be the definitive edition of this movie on the Blu-ray format. Very happy with my purchase.

They've redone the coloring and it shows! Amazing restauration of this all-time classic. Sound is good too! Definitely worth the buy!
