I've been looking for short-cuts to getting a decent demi place. Making it from scratch is a real pain. A chef friend recommended I try this one out, and it's quite good. Still not as good as scratch made, but easy to make in a few minutes rather than hours.

I’m a first time buyer of this product, but no stranger to demo glacé. While it’s not the perfect replacement for homemade it comes very, very close. If your’re a purist you may not care for all of the extra ingredients and additives in this product. That said, this is a very convenient way to get a quality meal on the plate without the fuss. The instructions provided on the packaging assume you’ll use the entire container which makes 2 quarts. I wish they included the measurements for smaller serving sizes.

Minors makes great products. I love their Brown stock and chicken base. This Demi Glacé is ok but not the nectar of the gods. I read another review recommending “Savory Choice beef demi-glace”. Don’t be fooled by this review that must have been created by the “ Savory Choice” company. I tried this product recently and it tastes horrible. If you want to try and make an excellent steak sauce get some Minors Brown stock from FoodServiceDirect.com A McDonald’s Double Cheeseburger tastes way better than Savory Choice. I warned you!
