Full 6" diameter, glass very fragile, kids love it, mild buzzing sound
Unlike many plasma balls offered on Amazon, this one is a good big size - maybe 6" diameter.It is GLASS - they all are - and the glass is thin, so beware of where you keep it and who gets to touch it. Yes, your dog/cat/kid can destroy this thing in .6 seconds; have fun vaccuuming the teeny weeny shards of glass - forever...That said, my 8 year-old son hasn't broken his yet, and he absolutely adores it as part of his 'wizard' play. "The coolest!" is his review.Ours emits a mild buzzing sound when on, which would probably preclude use as a nightlight.

This is much nicer than expected. Perfect size, wish the tendrals were a bit stronger when touched, but, is really cool, everyone at work plays with it, when they come into my office.

Broken within 10 days
I should have known it would be junk.

Got some scratches.
It's cool and all. Fast shipping. Received it in 3 days. But mine arrived quite scratched up. Also it's not very sensitive to sound, probably because the sensor is at the bottom of the stand. You really have to put it on top of a speaker if you want it to work on sound activated mode. Over all I'm ok with it. I will keep it because I don't want to go through the return process.

Electrifyingly cool!
I had one of these as a kid and wanted to get one for my son. It works well, looks cool, and even responds to sound. My only complaint is that it makes a buzzing/whining noise when you touch it. Maybe it's my memory, but I don't remember the old school plasma ball making noises. Either way, it's not terribly noticeable or annoying. Guaranteed to provide entertainment to children and adults alike.

Very pleased.
This was a gift and was a HUGE hit. It's got a real WOW factor just as a light, but is very fun to watch when touched. Read the descriptions carefully because most of the ones offered are 3" globes. This was the only larger one!
