Premium White Safflower -25lb Bag. Attracts Cardinals, Mourning Doves, Discourages Squirrels

My 50 lb bag of Safflower arrived on time (actually at the beginning of the delivery date window!!!). The fiberboard shipping container and closure tapes, while taking a beating during shipment, were still fully intact and protecting the woven polypropylene sack of safflower. I am very happy with my order and prdseed.

Best value for birders who feed year round. I had 2 Wood Warblers visit this week. First time seeing them here in NE AR since I moved here in 1993. Cardinals , doves, and purple finches can’t get enough. Blackbirds don’t like these except for the pair of redwing black birds who took up nearby residence. I wish sparrows didn’t like these. Would buy again.

I can't speak to the flavor, having not personally sampled it, but the birds seem quite happy.The only thing I can think of to consider is storage. The first time I bought seed in bulk, I kept the bag in the garage. Then the mice discovered it. Now I keep it outside, in a container with a very tight lid, have had no problems since.

Our local bird population loves these safflower seeds. We first got them in smaller packages as filler for other seed products to discourage the squirrels, and that was so successful that we started getting the 50-pound bags. A couple of these each year keeps the birds happy, the squirrels discouraged, and our backyard a happy place!

Pretty expensive seeds, but Cardinals, Sparrows, and other birds love it! Crows used to be a nuisance at my feeder because they would just waste seed and make a mess (and scare other birds away) looking for what they wanted in the regular mixed-seed bird seed. I switched to totally safflower, and haven't had a problem with crows or black birds since!

I have been feeding safflower seed for many years because the squirrels don't have any interest in it. L ordered from Shafer last time and it was really good quality seed. I should have checked out before I ordered this time. I have ordered from this vendor before, but it was better quality than this. There is a lot of discolored, damaged seed in this batch. I hope it will be okay for the birds and not make them sick. I don't know if it was moldy in the field or what. That being said, I have probably had worse seed, just not recently. Also instead of being in a sturdy paper bag this was in a woven plastic bag closed with a twisted metal wire which just slid off the bag. Not a good seal. Hope it doesn't have any bugs or eggs in it. You can see this seed on top of the previous seed in the plastic container in the photo.
