Discontinued model
i bought this boss-to-go a couple of weeks ago, and within a couple of days, dropped the 25 ounce cup whilst getting out of the car. I was a little disconcerted that it broke, but much more upset when i found i could not buy a replacement because this model has been discontinued. This is a terrific blender -- easy to use and to clean. however, i would never have purchased it had i understood that i would not be able to get replacements for relatively fragile parts.revised: the blender is now so difficult to open when i finish blending that i am unable to open it without help. i would give this 0 stars if i could.

Just what I needed...
The Breville Boss to Go Plus is my first Smoothie maker. There were no reviews when I purchased it just over a week ago, so I based my purchase on having owned the Breville The Grind Coffee Machine for over 2 years now, and still being pleased with that purchase. In the first 24 hours of owning this blender, I consumed four smoothies, and have had a minimum of two per day since. Each has been a different recipe, using things like Spinach, blueberries, kale, coffee beans/Iced coffee cubes, 94% Dark chocolate, Pistachios, bananas, Greek yogurt, sweet potatoes, Dates, apple juice, Oats and more.Honestly choosing exactly what to put in each smoothie takes longer than actually making one. After a few quick pulses, the average mix time so far has been 35-45 Seconds.I am just as satisfied with the purchase of the Boss to Go as I was with the Grind Coffee Machine, and highly recommend it to anyone in the market for a Smoothie Maker. Since only good things go into it, I am also enjoying having replaced two meals a day with smoothies. I haven't tried the Stainless Steel cup yet, but I intend to soon. The images I've included may appear a bit dry, but there is a large Iced coffee cube hidden in there, which added to the liquidity of the finished product.I paid full price, and was not paid for posting this review.

Look here to find out how to order more accessories...
Great blender. Girlfriend loves it, has 2 smoothies a day and uses it for everything from making vegan Parmesan to ice cream.Impossible to find additional blade bases or cups though. OR SO I THOUGHT.Just go to their website and initiate a chat, then ask the very helpful staff (Like Michael, the support specialist) and they can put an order together for you. Even comes with free shipping. Maybe if enough people do it they'll just put the products up for sale somewhere!Either way, I was pleased with the device before, and now I'll have some extra cups and a blade base.10/10 would blend again.

Completely broken after 3 months, messy and difficult to use even when it was working
This item is now a $200 paperweight. After just three months of gentle use, the motor gave out and stopped functioning entirely. I am trying to contact Breville about a replacement, but their support options are extremely limited making it difficult to contact them. Regardless, the fact that this brand-new item died so soon, after such minimal use, speaks poorly to its reliability.Even when the item was working, I found that it had basic design flaws that made it messy and difficult to use. You put items into a large plastic smoothie cup and then attach a blending device to the top of it, before turning the whole cup and device upside down. It's difficult to get a good seal, so even following the instruction manual exactly, I often had leakage where some of the smoothie would seep out as it was being made. If the seal is at all loose, you'll end up with smoothie being thrown all over the counter making a huge mess. A regular blender obviously does not have this design issue, because you just put the items into the blender and then pour it out when you're done -- so even if the cap is a little loose, you won't have spills everywhere. But this device doesn't work that way.I also found that the labels wore off after just about 2-3 weeks of using the device so you can't easily see where you're supposed to line up the cup with the underlying motor. That's minor, but again speaks to the fact that this is a poorly made product. I was thinking about returning this within a few weeks of when I received it, given that I found it to be very messy. Now that it's gone kaput completely, I sure wish I had! Never again with this item.

Design flaw--exchanged for Ninja 700w
I bought this after much research, because I was tired of the smoothie blenders I use daily burning out after 2 years and going to landfill, but I ultimately returned it due to a major design flaw I had seen others mention. It is extremely well-made and would probably last forever, with its 1000-watt motor. However, the blade unit gets suctioned onto the cup sometimes and becomes very hard to remove. I had it for three weeks and this happened 5 or 6 times. Usually it just needed someone with bigger, stronger hands than mine to really crank on it. It's also a large diameter. But there was one day neither of us could get it off for an hour. I next purchased the Ninja 700-watt, although it didn't look as well-made based on the reviews I had read and watched. I am extremely happy with it, although it remains to be seen how durable it will be. The other thing I didn't like about the 1000-watt was that as soon as the smoothie was adequately blended, it was completely liquified, with no thickness to it at all. The 700-watt is perfect for that -- everything blends well and fast, no chunks, but I can stop it at a smoothie stage. It's also the first of many smoothie blenders I've had that can't leak due to the design of the blade unit. I had learned to just put up with having to clean up a major mess about once/week (including with the Breville) and am very relieved. There's also a 1000-watt Ninja IQ, but I had passed on that because it has digital features that seem useless and liable to malfunction.

Great Smoothie Blender
I was looking for a personal blender so I could add healthy smoothies to my morning routine. I read a lot of online reviews of various brands, and was drawn to the Breville Boss to Go Plus because it has more metal parts than the Nutri Bullet / Nutri Ninja. I was also considering the significantly more expensive Vitamix S30, but ultimately the Boss to Go offered what I wanted at a better value. So far, I couldn't be happier with my purchase. The base does't take up too much counter space, the cups store in the cupboard, it's very easy to clean-up and, most important, it blends my smoothie ingredients very well and very quickly! The bonus nut grinding cup is a welcome included accessory that I've already used a few times. A common complaint about the Breville is that the blending base gets "stuck" to the cup (because pressure builds up instead during blending). I've noticed this once or twice, but it seems as long as I wait 15-30 seconds before trying to remove the cup from the base there are no issues.

Slowly disappointed with this product
I have been using the Breville personal blender for about 6-7 months. Once the lid is screwed on properly, the smoothies are great. It is able to blend ingredients much finer than my previous personal blender the Cuisinart. The downside which makes it borderline unusable is screwing the blade assembly into the cup. I have stopped using the smaller travel cups because it rarely screws in tight enough for the plastic tabs to protrude out of the base and activate the motor. The larger cup is better, but again it is still difficult to the point my wife will not even use it. I own several Breville appliances (toaster oven and expresso machine), so I was hoping for another great quality product. Unfortunately, I have been slowly disappointed with my purchase and I am now looking at a Vitamix.

Disappointed
The blender looked great and I would have loved to have it if not for a few issues. Sadly one of the double walled cups decided to show condensation between the walls which meant there was a sealing issue with it. Also, the blade top has two little spring loaded safety "pins" that were pretty sharp and shaved into the top of the cup leaving a slight bit of gap every 90 degrees where the cup would leak during blending. I am really disappointed by the engineering. I was expecting more for the price I paid.

Exceeded expectations.
I waited a bit before writing this review to make sure i had the opportunity to try it in full capacity. When i initially purchased this i was going to begin a greens challenge so it was extremely important to me that it lived up to the task... and it did! Green smoothies of kale and spinach and nuts and fruit.... this could and can handle whatever you put inside. The mixture is smooth and creamy no lumps. The milling attachment is great too. Ive used it to grind almonds, flax seeds and pumpkin seeds too. Such a powerhouse. A bit noisy but that is to be expected. Perfect smoothies in under a minute. Cant argue that.

Excellent. Makes nice smoothies but there may be issues
Excellent. Makes nice smoothies. Skins become tiny fine pepper size specks. Cleaning is super easy as the power head is one piece. Just rinse and you are good to go. You will have some issues blending, unsealing, tasting and then resealing. If you must the easiest approach is to drain and rinse everything before refilling. Sounds complicated but is just a one minute task. This is our fourth Breville gadget. I must say I like the design thought that goes into them. I made a big screwup misassembling our top end food processor and stripped some gears. Excellent telephone service, ten days and very little expense and parts arrived and were easily assembled.Update. We have now used this daily for three months. We have an increasing problem with the base getting stuck on the cups. This morning with two of us twisting we could not separate them. Now what? Wish I had bought the bigger version with conventional container. DarnUpdate #2 I talked to Breville in early April. They emailed a return postage label and I sent it back. A replacement arrived quickly. For about four months now it has been performing well. The service was excellent. I rather suspect this particular product by Breville is prone to operator error. If one overfills even a little bit, there is sometimes difficulty getting the power unit off. If one does not tighten sufficiently there will be minor leakage.Sometrimes it takes multiple try's to turn on. Don"t know why. Inadequate operator experience and judgement may be the source of my problems. I think that while I am a continuing Breville fan, this product fails to live up to their reputation. Good design accommodates operator inadequacies to a greater extent.
