This is more of a gadget than a useful tool. Too thin a carrot, and it breaks off. Too thick a carrot, and it won't fit. And you have to twist-crank without wonkiness or your veggie spaghetti break off. The thin blade made more of a mush than nice strings for me, but maybe I need more practice?

I ordered this based on the positive reviews I read. I'm sorry to say that I don't agree with them. With a lot of effort, it will sort of spiralize veggies like zucchini or summer squash. This morning I wasted about 1/3 of a summer squash because I couldn't get the final part to go through, and the little cap just spun in the end of the squash.There is NO WAY it will do carrots or beets, unless perhaps they are cooked first. I really wish I'd put the money I spend on this toward a REAL spiralizer. Of course now the packaging has been discarded, so I will just have to chalk it up to a poor purchasing decision.

Not as sharp as I had hoped. Hard items, like carrots, tend to shred more than actually spiral. Didn't dislike it enough to return but wouldn't buy again and certainly wouldn't gift the item.
